Brand new here and wanted to say hello. I recently bought from a friend a 1959 Chevy Kingswood wagon that's currently being restored as close to old-school original as we can get it. As the photos show, it's in need of a lot of love. I'm here to learn all I can as work progresses.
Welcome to the group. There's a lot of station wagon love here. You better get to work lovin that wagon of yours. Take your time and enjoy it. While you are here wander around some of the old posts and other wagon builds to get some ideas and inspiration.
Hi Lisa and welcome. Looks like you're not wasting any any getting started on the complete restoration. Can't wait to watch your progress so be sure you post plenty of pictures along the way. We have another member who's got a gorgeous '59 Chevy; he's in the midst of repairing it from a parking lot mishap. (Believe me, it wasn't your average parking lot mishap where a shopping cart dings it; it was a lot worse!)
Thanks! I'll be looking around. Hope to find some info on the '59 Kingswood. So far, information has been a bit scant. I was, however, thrilled to be able to source a complete, correct interior from SMS Auto Fabrics - even down to the jute-backed linoleum decking material for the cargo area. On the hunt next for correct hubcaps for those 14 inch wheels.

If going "old school" you may consider chrome reversed wheels and baby moon caps. Usuallly not bad priced at the Discount auto stores.

I'm hoping to find whatever was originally on there. Not sure if the hubcaps were 14 inch or just a baby cap. They likely looked like this: I visited "Hubcap World" here in OKC this morning, and both large and small sizes of authentic vintage caps are available. I like the idea of some of the painted wheel showing, so I'm leaning toward the smaller diameter. I just want to be sure it's appropriate for my car.
Duly noted. Yes, some friends said I was crazy for wanting to save this car. "You'll never get your money back out of it," they said. Probably so, but truly, it is a labor of love for hubby and me.
I love those '58 hubcaps! The '59 caps are a little less flashy, but I guess they're the correct ones. Thanks for the pic.
