Don't see myself

You know that phenomenon where when you get a new car you suddenly see tons of those same cars on the road. Since I got the Colony Park back in October I have never had that experience. In fact I don't think I have seen any Panther wagons of any stripe.

Once in a while I do see some box wagons around - usually Chebbies.

Last summer though, I was coming home from downtown Eugene one day when a Parisienne Safari joined me on the on-ramp to the highway. We cruised side-by-side for 3-4 miles and said pleasantries at a stop light.

 

For the most part, that has always happened to me. When I got my CP back in 2001, there were still plenty of them around. Over the time I had it, I saw too many of them go through the local Pull-a-Parts, both Merc and Ford cars.

 

Mike , I am still waiting to see another 60 pinky Downunder or any other colour for that matter and now I do but I don't know who owns it by the way I really like your ride:icon_drive:

 

Well, I've seen two or three Colony Park boxes on the street since I bought my car, exactly one blue Olds Custom Cruiser box without wood grain, two non wood Chevy boxes, or the same car after an accident, a mint condition Roadmaster with skirts, the owner giving me the eye while I was driving my wagon, about two ratty Roadmasters, a couple of Caprice whales, one that visits the house down the street has wood grain, and a mystery GM black primer box that an old school mate of mine owns. I saw the last CP this past Friday in Fort Pierce here, with a nice set of aluminum aftermarket rims on it. The car looked fairly new. I wonder if that person is on this forum?

 

For some reason I see few wagons here. I have seen 2 Roadmasters in the last month and every once in a while I see what looks to be a very original looking 1968 Chevy
Bel Air, Biscayne body style wagon. Never get close enough to get a good look but it is a faded red, dog dish hubcap wagon. Really neat looking car. We are lucky here though if we see 2 or 3 a month. Not sure why and really hard to find one for sale here.

 

I have seen a pretty nice 74 or 75 Torino four door coupe in town. I hope to get a couple of pics someday.

I have only ever encountered one other 76 LeMans Safari on the road since I started driving it in ~1986. We honked and waved at each other. That was back in 1999.

 

In the town of Parry Sound, Ontario, there used to be 14 (count them, 14) 1986 Mercury Colony Parks, all 351/Towing Package cars, and 7 of them were mushroom beige! Not sure how many are left, though.

Yesterday, I saw a white with woodgrain Caprice whale, blackwall tires and wire wheel covers. Then, when I stopped at a shopping center a few miles from home, saw a grey primer 1967 Belair wagon, which unfortunately looked to be held together by rust. A non wagon sight, same shopping center, the owner of a '73 to '77 Cutlass coupe, red with white vinyl top, whitewalls and wire wheel covers. He must have been at work because he had it covered when I drove into the lot. It needs a lot of cosmetics, but he was a proud owner indeed.

 

I haven't seen a panther yet but did see a whale just the other day. A couple of Euro-Wagons in the last month or two but not much else.

Dennis, I'll bet you manage your time a lot better than I do! Love those 1960 Mercury wagons!

I saw a splintery looking white Colony Park from the '80's yesterday, black wall tires and factory aluminum wheels. I wish I had bought one of the two I saw years back, before someone else got them and let them go to seed.

 

Rarely see or saw any 1955 Chevy wagons here. But there are a few 55-57 Chevy wagons and Nomads at the very large events.
It seems a few years ago there were more wagons here at small events but rarely see any on the road just driving.
