Well here is a twist I've never heard before..... "Ran last time they started it" Not seeing a $1000 car here either, how ever the El Camino does have a 302 http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/1975-Chevy-El-Camino_22477389
Uh, the poster doesn't know s#!t from Shinola? And when they say it ran when parked, they then do say it should fire up. Good luck with that. I parked my Ranchero on the street last year, then when I wanted to start it after a couple months, it cranked but wouldn't fire. It turned out to be a corroded ignition electrical switch. Soon as I changed it out and cranked it, it fired right off. And I agree that it's not a thousand dollar car.

Actually I have three old cars that did run when parked. When we moved to Florida my 1939 Ford was driven on and off the trailer exactly twenty years ago under it's own power with a 283 Chevy. Sad to say it now has rotten hoses, lines, and the plastic carb spacer can be seen through to the other side. But it ran when parked! The 1941 Ford 350 Chevy was parked eight years ago with nothing wrong. Just stopped driving it for awhile.--- -A long while! My 1948 Chevy panel truck ran when parked at least eight years ago too. Never did get brakes or steering hooked up but it ran great so is probably called a driver. Just be carefull where you drive! So it's true ran when parked can be an honest statement. Life, health, sh**t happens. And I'm among those that are called names for not selling them..... giving them away cheap. At least I can dream and say I have one. Better than selling them to a crook for pennies on the dollar. ------PS-They are all ready for restoration! Hey I should post this on the HAMB where they hate horders.
All my cars ran when parked. Had to get a new battery for my 86 Monte Carlo SS to get it to restart a couple weeks ago. This weekend I started it, my 71 Chevy pickup, my 66 Chevelle, and my wife's 01 Tahoe. Yup, all ran when parked. My 47 Chevy 2 door sedan in in million pieces and it's ready for restoration. My 56 Chevy 210, 2 door sedan is getting close. I finished putting in the front light wiring yesterday, and should get the engine wiring done next weekend. I've owned it for 7 years and neveer heard it run, but I'm getting close. My 67 Chevelle wagon is just sitting, waiting it's turn. The 327 is ready, so is the TH350, just need to find the time.
