http://www.theweathernetwork.com/alerts/high-alert/canada/nova-scotia/truro We've been watching the Boston News and it looks like a nasty storm. New Burnswick is supposed to get higher winds and more rainfall then us, but it will still be a nasty day tomorrow. The garden's around town all look bare, folks are taking the first tropical storm of the season seriously. Planters, lawn furniture and ornaments have all been securied. We've put up a gazebo tent last weekend. We took the cover off this evening and put it in the truck. Hopefully the frame will be ok. All the hanging baskets have been taken down, hope they don't get beat up too bad. I've still got little plants that I haven't put into planters yet...maybe I should bring them in the house? My daughter's young cat(1.5 yrs) got out, she's an indoor cat. We've been out there calling her and shaking a treat bag for a couple of hours now, no luck. I'm worried. We've had cat's go missing before, but we've also had cats come back too. But with the storm coming... it won't be a pleasant adventure for the cat. I think my daughter will be out there all night looking for her baby. ***Update*** Waffles(the cat) has been found. Daughter was sitting on the veranda when she heard the cat meow. She went down into the woods (at this time of night) by herself and got her cat back. I wasn't pleased that she went into the woods without telling us but I'm really happy she got her cat back. Well hang onto your hat's folks, those that are in the path, stay safe from the storm. It might be a good day to clean the garage.
We have almost made to the other side. The wind has been scarey...VERY SCAREY. It was a tropical storm when it got here other places weren't so lucky. We have heard of one man who got trapped under a fallen tree. He is going to be ok...lucky man. So here are a few pics of trees down in our garden and the neighbours.
The neighbours... Our neighbour is planning to remove the rest of these still standing trees asap...sad...however his yard.
Bummer fannie, but you are all OK, and kitty was found, rite? But.. fannie, fannie, fannie...... OMG, the horror, gona take weeks to clean up that mess, hope you have insurance............. All joking aside, glad you and family are OK:2_thumbs_up_-_anima
Ouch. Exactly three years on the 1st of July I was pulling down a tree top much like this, minus the extra limbs. The top part slid off the trunk and hit the ground in seconds. The end I was holding rammed my right eye and I lost the lens. Many surgeries and I still can hardly see out of it. Make sure everyone handling branches and trees is extra careful. Any storm with wind is scary and you never know what to expect. This is only the first this season. Those were mostly neighbor trees down Tedy.
But.. fannie, fannie, fannie...... OMG, the horror, gona take weeks to clean up that mess, hope you have insurance............. Ha ha very funny. Thanks Cat, it's been three years??? How quick the time goes by.
I could hardly believe it myself. At our age time is going way too fast. By the way, isn't this at least the second time Mr Tedy has teased you about a disaster that was only leaves? The neighbors did get a bunch of small trees down so that is bad.
Glad to here things went okay Fannie. thanks for keeping us updated. We've heard some tings on the news about how many lost power and damage done so glad you are not part of that. You folks do get some interesting weather on the east coast. Take care down there, or is it back there.........
Thanks Saf. Interesting indeed. Seems to get more interesting every year. This is very early in the season for a storm like this, these storms usually start a bit later in the summer. It is still extremely windy outside and it has gotten really cool out there.
Glad you came out OK, Fannie. My cousins in Beaufort NC on the outer banks saw some damage, but nothing major. Its always better to be safe than sorry! I'm still paying on the FEMA loan I had to use to fix my house after hurricane Charly blew through Orlando in 2004!
