Hello everyone. My name is Josh and i am a friend of Dewey's. I am sad to have to do this but i wanted to inform you all that Dewey passed away last week. he was on a hiking trip with his family and had complications with his diabetes as well as the cold from the freak snow storm that hit up in the mountains last week. He was on here so much and loved talking with you all that i figured i should let you guys know. He passed his wagon on to his nephew who plans on finishing it for Dew, and they are gonna drive his ashes to his celebration in the wagon this weekend. Dewey was loved by everyone that knew him so his last party is gonna be a large one. Sorry i had to be the bearer of bad news, but his wife and i thought it would be best to let you guys know.

Thank you Josh, please give Dewey's wife and family our thoughts and prayers. He was a stellar member here on swf as I am sure he just was a stellar person period. We are all sorry for your loss and glad that the shwag will remain in Dewey's family.

Thanks very much Josh. Shocking at first to see Dewey posting but every day I check in here I will be waiting for dewey to come on.
We miss him very much. So happy that his wagon will remain in the family and be enjoyed as it should.
My dream is to be carried in my station wagon also. A fitting tribute to another station wagon lover and our friend. Again fairwell dewey satellite

Please accept my condolences and thank you for the update. We had already heard of his passing from a member who saw it on FB. There is a large posting under "Community" which is viewable only by registered and logged in members.

Please invite his nephew to visit the forum and consider joining our nutty group.

I was thinking the same think Mike. Like Cat I was taken aback when I first saw the Dewey's post. I was hoping there had been an awful mistake.

Thank you Josh, it was very thoughtful of you and Michelle to think about us cyber friends of Dewey's. You all must be going through a very tough time there and to take time out to jump on here to pass along the message goes to speak of the family and friends that Dewey was fortunate to have. Please feel free to join us any time, this place is not just about cars.
As Mike said above, there is a thread that was started earlier when the news first came out. Here is a link...

We would also be eager to see the Shwag complete. So please ask the nephew to join us if he would like too. How fitting to have Dewey take one last drive in his beloved Shwag, it's really to bad at times like this that we are all spread out so far from each other.

I am so sorry for your family's loss please pass along our condolences to everyone that Dewey loved. I hope that time will help to ease your pain and help to fill that void.

Thank you Josh for thinking of those of us on the Forums. Dewey was one of the folks who you just knew by his postings that he was a kind and caring person. He enjoyed his wagon very much, he was excited about doing trips with his wife whom he mentioned often as the bright light in his life.

Please pass on condolences if you would.

A fine tribute to carry him in his wagon. I hope those around me will be willing and able to do the same for me when my time comes.

Please let his nephew know he is not just receiving a much loved station wagon, he's become the caretaker of Dewey Satellite's pride and joy. He would be very welcome to join us on the Forums.

Josh, I think it's all been said already by my fellow swf members, but I echo every word. My heartfelt prayers and thoughts are with Dewey, you and his family. As a fellow diabetic ("type 1") and having had a very close call myself a few years ago, I am aware of how quickly things can change from one moment to the next. It wasn't that long ago that I lost my uncle (also diabetic) under similar circumstances as well.

Thank you for taking the time to update us, that was very thoughtful of you.

    God bless.

Thank you for taking the time to come on here to let us all know. Dewey is already sorely missed, and I can only image how it must be for his family. It's wonderful to hear his wagon will stay in the family and that he will get one last ride. I think he is smiling down on us right now.

    Thanks again,
    Jeremiah

What a considerate post, Josh. Thanks. I do miss him, and I'm teary-eyed as I type this. The folks here will be glad to receive his nephew. Obviously he has a generous-spirited family.

    Thanks again.
