So , I have not been on in a while. But wanted to tell you that , this past Saturday, while at a one hour class in the city ( not middle of the city ) 11 a.m. , at a parking meter on a busier street, in broad daylight, and in what was determined to be a 20 min. period ( someone saw it just before I left, as they were coming in )......someone F#$%ing STOLE my beloved 1990 Olds Custom Cruiser.!!!!! Really ? Not a Range Rover, not a LEXUS SUV.....But my amazing cool adored wagon. No broken glass at the scene. I'm completely devastated. I cry every day...I call impound every day. I just recently lost one of my original center caps ( right front ), but have the rest on it. Mine is, the cool low mileage one from Connecticut a couple yrs ago . Sooo ,...if you see someone trying to sell it or something... its ripped off. I'll keep you posted. I'm not even Church-y , but printed out the freakin St. Anthony prayer and am saying it constantly. Can't tell anyone at work or even my Mom yet ....she LOVES riding in my car and the attention it gets. Had a guy enthusiastic/ crazy thumbs-up to me as I went to this thing, just that day. I get that all the time.... I'm just east of Cleveland , in the burbs. Pray hard....I want it back so bad. The ins. lady called ( didn't have full coverage )..and says, well, we can take it off ins,. till you find it then you won't be paying on a car you don't have. Then you can put it back on... ( bawled ) it's like she was putting the nail in the coffin.... My God. Thanks for listening. I know YOU understand. Lori...XOXO
If it helps the police should not miss it in the crowd of other cars around i assume they are as rare there as anywhere... if they actually look. sorry for your loss hope it turns up ok!
Having been in your shoes I can certainly sympathize. When you're attached to the machine and some asshat takes it away, it leaves a void. Best of luck to you.
Wow, that sucks. I'm so sorry. I hope it turns up for you. Can you post some pictures of your wagon, on this thread?
Check scrapyards also. In some parts of the country there is a issue with thieves stealing large vehicles for their weight in steel.
Just curious, does a scrapyard not require some type of proof of ownership (like a title) before they'll accept something like that?
I am sorry to hear that. Was it towed? I know this: Thieves have nightmares. Those who change from that, though? They have rest. And thankfully, Possessions can be replaced. Also, Was the parking brake on with the steering wheel turned almost completely to one side? It says in the manual for the 84 Chevy which I drive to do that. I also have a steering-wheel lock bar that I use for it.
State regulated and depends on date of manufacture. Plus, there is always "that" scrap yard that will take a vehicle in....
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/09/n...he-older-and-heavier-the-ride-the-better.html I would check the local towyards, scrapmetal yards as soon as possible.
Even if a state requires junkyards to get the title for scrapping (Washington is one), the big thing is to steal the VIN from a like car and forge the paperwork (using older documents that don't have anti-forging inks and printing). The best thing you can do is report the stolen vehicle as soon as possible, and give an overcomplete description of the car, so that if the police find it, your description makes it easier for them to authenticate the identification. Also, you can place a piece of paper over the VIN tag on the dash to prevent someone from writing it down.
Do the Police put out some kind of alert to area car lots, scrap yards and anyone else who regularly takes in used cars? There is that dent at right rear side at top of woodgrain that might help ID it quicker than checking the VIN? Sorry to hear of it being taken.
Sorry to hear the sad news. I have a few biker friends in the Cleveland area. I will send a picture of the wagon and info. There have been way too many sad things happening here lately!
That is a drag, and yes I can relate also..... had my 86 Fox Marquis stolen rite out of my driveway shortly before I joined the forum, got it back but with body damage and a mutilated steering column.
