As of Friday, June 6, 2014, our primary car is now my 31 year old Bonneville wagon. Our second car is my 46 year old GTO. Our daughter and son-in-law needed a second car because of a recent relocation. We gave them a GREAT deal on our G8 and we are waiting for the 2015 Buick Encore introduction date to pick out our new car. Soooooo....... We will be driving these for the next few months: This should be fun!
Nothing like roughing it with a old car, have fun....... I know I would in the GTO.......and 2 dog heads sticking out the back windows Now then....how's my truck coming along?
So far, I've had good luck with the Way Back Machine being my DD....... Are you sure about the Encore, Joe? Seems a bit on the small side to me. Check out the new Escape, or is GM a requirement?
I didn't know there were mountains in SE Michigan! Looks like your cars are going to slide off the side.
Haven't had a lot of time to work on the truck due to commitments for the big car show coming up this weekend. (http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31623) BUT, I DID get the firewall ready for prime & paint. Only problem is, my friend who offered to do the paint work just had back surgery, so it will probably be a few weeks before I get the firewall back. In the meantime, I got the block painted, got the headers re-installed after ceramic coating and I mocked up the new/old Caddy air cleaner: Yeah, GM is pretty much a lock. We both spent our careers at GM (Julie 30 years, me about 22 years), so everything else feels like we're biting the hand that fed us. We test-drove an Encore and liked it a lot. The Equinox/Terrain twins are a little bigger than we need. If there was a version of the Captiva that we could buy new, we would be tempted, but those are only available in fleet orders (here in the US). Cat, you funny guy, you! LOL
Forget the new things. Nothing but computers driving in close formation! Stick with old reliable! More comfortable, more reliable, and much less expensive to keep running properly! If there is one thing I cannot, and will not, abide in the new things it is the delay built into the throttle. Hate the feel of that.
Actually, it's a GTO with four doors. Recently reincarnated as the Chevy SS and Caprice PPV (with stretched wheelbase). The better question is, why get a new car? I have to laugh sometimes. My first car was a 1968 Vista Cruiser hand-me-down family car. That car was exactly six years old when I got it. My newest vehicle today is twice that old. My wife's daily driver is a 30 year old Delta 88. My 64 Vista will become my daily driver when it's finished (so I can dump the '02 and it's electronics), so that will be over 50 years old.
Close... G8 was the Pontiac version of the Commodore sedan. We had the 3.6VVT V6 version, but there were 2 v8 options available as well.
Hi, My daily driver is a '84 Volvo 245gl wagon. I guess it is 30.5 since it was bought new in Nov '83. It has 408k and still gets me where I need to go. It was only towed once in thirteen years of ownership. I may need to park it soon due to needing paint and the dash dismantled due to a bad heater blower. It also leaks just about everything. Your Bonneville wagon looks in pretty good shape. Nothing wrong with using an 80's wagon. If I recall correctly, weren't they using an 80's g-body Bonneville in 'The Shield'?
