I didnt say all. The TBI 302s were sad. Most any 302 in Pickups that I have ever worked on or driven were also sad.

my 305 in my 85 caprice does ok, its pretty good once youre rolling. i also had an 88 electra 307 that would fish tail if you did it right.

but ill have to agree with whoever mentioned the 84 crown vic. i had an 83 mark vi, it was a dog off the line. once you were over 70mph though it would go. the 305 is way more powerful than that pre injection 302

Well...12 hours left on the Buick wagon that lies and it's at $1775. I wish it wasn't but it is. That puts it close to $2200 to the buyer with the bend over fees. I think it will move up more in the next 12 hours and Scott Evans Nissan will let it go. I was hoping that this car would not sell. I feel badly for the buyer if he has not yet seen the car. I have often wondered how and why the dishonest succeed.

She ain't speedy, but like any Olds motor, I can pull anything with it. We tied my friend's dad's Honda Civic to the trailer ball, and I pulled it, in gear around a parking lot, in first gear, no problems! It's only rated at 140 hp from the factory which is what my 235 Straight Six was in my 58 Chev. It ain't speedy, and a 200R4 don't help the speed neither, but I can tow anything! Especially with the Air shocks! Maybe if I win the lotto I'll do what I've always dreamed of and restore everything on the car to factory except for the drivetrain which would be a built 572 and a built TH400. Blow the doors off of every vehicle in the city of Portage! Maybe the state of Wisconsin!

Don't knock that 200-4R, CE. Guys have those behind 800-1000HP. They are an under rated tranny just because guys think they are not as good as the 700-R4 because it has smaller numbers. Part of the reason you can pull well with your rig is that the 1st gear in the 200 is very low. And when you want to go somewhere on the street you have good gas mileage with a bigger engine. That tranny is always what I ran behind my wagons with 500 HP 455's and 540 lbs of torque.

Did I call this one or NOT!!!!
That MI/WI '84 Buick wagon that had the big miles on it but was listed at 58K? It sold for $1825 or so. I said I'd like to be there when the buyer sees that car. Well.....it's BAAAAAAaaaaack! I'd bet my life that the buyer took one look under, in and around that car and left within 5 minutes. THEN...the seller STILL relists it with 58K miles. See all my comments about this car in some of the above posts. NOW...if only the winner of the Red '89 would walk away from THAT one. My life would be good.:29:

YAY!! :party5: The Red Roach didn't hit reserve! Stayed at $1775.
I hope my posts here and at impalass helped save people some grief on that car. I wish they would get real on the price so someone could save it.

When I think about it...this dealer COULD have sold this car for $1900. NOW...they have put it on ebay, auto trader, cars.com, carsoup, and 2 others...ebay ALONE cost them about $175! They are now sitting way WORSE than when they started! Probably have to raise that bend over fee to $1000 instead of their usual $400! These guys are not only sleazy...they aren't too bright either.

OH...and the doctored up white rust bucket topped off at $3050 and didn't hit reserve!! The guy is crazy for not taking that for this trash. He did rush in at the end and lower the BIN price...when that didn't work he rushed in again and lowered the reserve. Not enough apparently. I'd give zero for the car. Not much you could do to stop that rust at this point. Miles are a lie too. It has been on ebay a couple three times now always at the same price. I expect it to be back again.

I like my 200R4, just not a speed trans. It works great for what I need. Even though my friend who owns the Gruber Automotive is always on me to get rid of that 'slushbucket' but I don't need to, I get okay mileage and can pull anything!

I don't know who Gruber is but the 200-R4 is far from a slush bucket. Did you even read what I wrote? Furthermore, the 400's have a big drop in RPM from 1 to 2...you get a smooth transition with the 200 all the way up. I'm telling you...they can be built to take 1000 HP AND...equal car to equal car...the 200 wins everytime.

Really? I'm kinda surprised. And Gruber is just an old-skool mechanic who owns Gruber Automotive here in town. Good guy, not necessarily an expert on things past the Turbo Hydromatic days. I do beleive you on the smooth shifting though! I'd never have thought of this as a racing trans though after my experience, so that was kinda a shock. But after my experiences with 2 speed Powerglides, I couldn't beleived they built those for drags either!

That's funny. I live 15 miles from that car and went and looked at it myself. I got a decidedly different impression.

To quote myself from another thread:

And I drove it, too. SLLLOOOOOOOOOOOW. But whatever. Everything is slow compared to an LT1.:rofl2:

I wasn't looking for a perfect car. Just a decent one. I can't buy it anyway, but fred (ruphrax on ISSF, and....... A WAGON DEALER!) asked me to go look at it if I had nothing better to do. And that day, I didn't. I posted my pix in that thread. Right from my camera.

Sorry Firewood...just tryin' to help another car guy. I have pix here too posted by Blackfoot. Different strokes and all that.
Oh...and I DID mention that the redeeming factor of the car is that it is a southern car.
You really need to read the entire thread though.
