Hi Folks I just became the proud new caretaker for a one owner car bought new in 1966 just a few blocks from my current home. The car is a 1966 classic 770 wagon not a lot of options but a very cool story. Joe the man I bought it off originally got it at Plimley Motors here in Victoria BC in late 1966. I saw the car on craigslist as I was looking for a wagon of some sort. And what do I find under antiques with the wooden cabinets and armoirs. a beautiful red rambler wagon. My own history started at an early age with station wagons, basically at birth. My parents had a 2 door Triumph Herald Estate car and they took it all over Europe it even lived a couple of years in Norway as I did.. Had lots of cars trucks vans and motorcycles but have always had a soft spot for station wagons. Volvo p1800Es to Ford Ltd with the lovely wood grain. me luvs me some long roof Having a 1964 corvair turbo spyder I have an eye for the strange yet wonderful (and a challenge) at least imho . The Rambler fits the bill totally. It was restored in 1989 and has been stored basically ever since. The car came with a load of bills and drove on the 130 mile route home at 70 no problem with passing power when needed. It is having issues with the choke which is not working but air cleaner off, needle nosed vice grips holding choke mostly closed and she starts right up. After the car is warm it starts and runs like a watch. I so have to work on little things like high beam switch seems seized... rear window is slow and of course the choke. Not much for a 48 year old vehicle. Photos below not the best shots but some idea of Floyd as the Rambler is named. http://s34.photobucket.com/user/james_fraser3/slideshow/
Rambler made it here before I did looking around the forum and what do I see..small world after all t=30976http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30976
Nice score on the wagon, if it was in Victoria I'd most likely be shot because I would have bout it! I'll be looking for you on the roads, if you see any woody GM woody wagons with dogs coming at you that will be me Now we need more pics of your new beast
Welcome to the SWF, Ironbruuu! We're glad that Floyd and you are now members of our family. On the side, I was a Corvair owner as well, for a while back in the early 70's - a yellow '66 Corsa. Marshall
