    I hear that!
I hear about guys gettin 18-24 out of their 92-3 Roadies, I usually get about 14-16 around town. Probably has to do with me sticking my foot through the grille when Im at a redlight in town and some lil punk in a loud pickup, fartcanned Ricer or overated Pussthing looks over and laughs. I have a great reaction time, years of bracket racing, jump the lite and fire up the rear hoops and the open breather roars to life like a good old 4bbl sounds off as she opens her throat. Then Im the one laughing as Im sittin at the next light waiting on them to get there. They learn real quick to respect the Longboard! :thumbs2:

LMAO :biglaugh:at Blackfoot...AGAIN! I LOVED seeing the smile turn to bug eyed disbelief when I walked away from some kid in his Mustang in my old '88 Electra Wagon (built 455)! :icon_drive:
I told you once before, Blackfoot...you're a man after my own heart. (y) I wish you lived closer to Brooklyn. You would be a good guy to check out that car for me that I mention in my other thread. :party5:

I got twenty with my wife's '78 New Yorker Brougham on a trip to Tulsa last Summer, and that was driving 75 - 80 mph with that big 440!

These Wagons we love, get so little respect, especially when they have a longboard plaster to the side like mine does. Most people are so unknowledged about these wagons its pathetic, Imagine if it was a 94-96 with a LT1, I would be huntin down the Vettes and not the POS Pussthings.

On a trip to Buffalo 2 weeks ago, I was pulling 24mpg, but once in town, this treefitty likes the gas. Alot to do with the 2:56 gears. Im thinkin on doin a 3:23 swap, as I do more town and rural drivin then highway.

I would love to help you out and look her over. I do have to take my wife to NYC sometime in the near future. Our wonderful new Governor Patterson, worthless SOB, changed the ruling for immagrants when they renue their passports. She now has to make a physical apperance at her consulate in downtown Manhattan, NYC. I am already too damn close to NYC for my taste and its 9 hours drive away. Sorry man, even if I was goin there tomorrow, Im goin nowhere near Brooklyn. Im not a fan of big cities here in the USA, anyother country I have been to, I dont mind big cities at all, Japan, Philippines, Indonsia and Canada. But the Big US Cities, they scare the hell out of me.

No problem...I just had a long talk with the lot owner and he gave me some history and did a walk around. This car is no cherry but it is a rare color that I want and in talking with the guy I'm convinced that it can be brought up to snuff. Besides...that LT1 and rear end is coming out for a rebuild with some added attractions anyway. :yup: I have always played with the late '80 Buick wagons and dropped in a built 455...might be time to try the LT1. This car is cheap enough that I could keep it "as is" and still look for what else I might want. Too damn many wagons to think about!

Well.....ended at $18,100. Reserve Not Met. That money is about half of what he would like to get out of the car.

I dunno guys. I just don't feel that the amount a person spends on a car in restoration sets the resale value.

I also don't think you should build your dream car to your dream specs then expect the rest of the world to run over waving their wallets at you.

Building your dream car to your specs and no limit budget is fine if you are doing it for yourself. But don't expect me to overpay for it.

A cars value is based on what others have sold for recently in the same condition.

Many of us would have been happy with an original engine and drivetrain.

I'm sure you could find a mint 74-77 Town & Country, swap an Imperial nose to it and drop in a power sunroof and keep the original drive train all for under $15K.

You make a good point MoMan. I know I sure never got out what I had in MY built cars. This is a well done car and I believe he has a lot of money in it. The leather work, operating sun-roof, finding, buying, switching the bodies around, body & paint work, 440 engine professionally built with rail injection, electronics etc, etc. He seems to be taking a hit at his asking. Still...what you say is what usually happens when you build your own car. Some guys stay at their price forever believing they have built the perfect car. Sometimes they get what they want out of it eventually at the show circuits. Most of the time not. When I build a car I don't even think of whether I will get my money back or not. I just want what I want and do it. I'm sure this guy did that too. He may get lucky and get some rich guy at a show or auction to buy that car for his price. But...in this market, I would be surprised.

An example of what MoparMan is talking about, showed up on one of those Russo And Steele auto auctions on TV.A mid-60's VW Beetle with the ragtop sunroof went up for sale. It'd been well restored and looked brand new, maybe better. It sold for $2,600...You can spend $100,000 restoring a Pinto or a Vega, and it may never get that much at auction,or otherwise...Part of the problem with the real estate market recently,is;people are figuring out that it doesn't matter what you do to a $100,000 house,it's never going to be a $1,000,000 mansion. It will always be a $100,000 house.
