I came across this video of our Eastern Shore, my favorite place in the entire world. It's amazing not much has changed. Hope you enjoy the step back... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEGLNo5P8hE
Thanks for posting that Fannie! I'll watch it again and add it to my list of 'must see' places. As someone who grew up with the St. Johns river in my front yard and the Atlantic ocean in my backyard, I can see why you love the place. Did anyone notice the ships being loaded piece by piece? This was before shipping containers were invented, putting hundreds of longshoremen out of work.
This was posted on Youtube beside the vid Fannie posted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjFUvOXVZuk The obviously made for GM video shows the importance of the Automobile industry in the USA and Canada. There's a Chevy woodie wagon in there...
Here's one of Old Orchard Beach Maine in the 60s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcSWacQfYco And the York Zoo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BL7apU9AIXA&list=PL3A5F4D1B0F593D1A
Your a Maritimer? cool! I did notice the ship being loaded, actually I was thinking about the young boys watching the loading. You would never see that today, those kids would be chased out of there.
We stayed over night at Old Orchard Beach the last time we were in Maine, it's a beautiful place. It really amazed us, all the shops, the carnival and the beach. Hubby was really glad the place was closed down for the season when we were there. However, I now know where it is...might be a great girls weekend road trip.
