It's easy to be frim on your asking price when your emailing back and forth. Perhaps you should go look at it with your cash in hand. Get a reliable mechanic to give it the once over. You'll have a chance to drive it and really check it out. It may be a bit harder to say "no. I'm frim on the price" when the cash is in front of you.

If I were buying one of that year I'd say yeah, $4,500 is a decent price considering it has the towing capability and is in such nice restored shape.

I really like it but i would put different rims on it and would like the woodgrain back on.
I offered him 4000 and he didn't even respond to that.
You may think whats an extra 500 bucks but i'm already getting out of my comfort zone offering 4000 considering i would want to do some mods on it.

    Update

So he just e- mailed me back, it needs alternator and it puffs blue after long trip so it prob needs valve work.
He previously told me that motor only has 40 k on it?

He' ll let it go as is for 4200, or 4900 firm after valves are fixed:confused:

I think i'll have to take this of my list, and it was the only one on there :).

There are just no decent wagons here..............
Looking south of the border now so if any of you guys are thinking about selling their wagon let me know please.
    Thanks!!

Good for you Bd. I think I would let it go also. I know it is hard because I often find myself at that point but like my deal I am working I suggested and agreed to let my dad drive and assess the car so I don't just jump feet first into something I shouldn't. I expect a few things cosmetic but told him if anything scares him I would walk. My point being sometimes we are too close to the situation get someone you trust to give a honest assessment of wagons you are interested in. Good luck and one will come along! :tiphat:

The puff of blue is almost normal for these G.M. engines. When the stock 305 in my brother's 86 Parisienne Safari started doing that too much, he had the valve seals changed. I think that was what was done. The repair came to under $300, and the engine ran perfectly for a LONG time after. By the time the floor fell out, the engine had 730,000 km on it, and the compression was still well within spec. Don't let a little puff of oil smoke deter you. It sounds, though, like this seller is being a bit rigid. Keep in touch with him every so often, though, and eventually he may budge on the price when he gets no other interest. That is how Krash managed to get the way-back machine, after all.

IMO......I recommend you let this one go. Walk away and move on. Your dream wagon WILL come along.... Really. And probably when you least expect it. Hang in there.

Sounds like a wise choice. Keep looking. There really are some nice wagons with lower mileage. The only problem for members seems to be finding them where they live. Just don't settle for less than what you want. Sure as heck if you do the better wagon will come along tomorrow.
