The lunch room food theft at my honey's work has gotten so bad that today she went to work with our small 12volt/100amp cooler to use in her office for her lunch, snacks, sodas, etc.

Seems nothing can be left in the community fridge. A couple months back 8 new people were hired ranging from office staff to the maintenance crew so placing a finger on who/whom to blame is next to impossible along with the fact lunch/break times vary, and the food being stolen is all over the map from last nites left overs to a brand new Subway sub.

Pretty firkin sad IMO considering the wages made there, nobody can say they are starving and can't afford food.

I suggested what IMO should be done:evilsmile:, but my honey refuses to participate in a caned dog food sandwich, or a big glob of extra hot wasabi in the middle of a Subway sub. I even told her I'd make a blue dye jelly doughnut! What better way to bust some one in the office after they have stolen your food!

Got this pic from the net, it would be a dead give away IMO, but she won't have nothing to do with it.

Ex-lax in brownies or choclate cake would do the trick! I bring my lunch and has allowed me to have a substantial
toy fund in the last year. Now if I can quit smoking it will have even more!

Here at Napa we have a big sign on the fridge "If you didn't buy it, don't try it!" it really actually helped the food thief problem. I personally keep my breakfast and lunch under my counter. You're right Dennis bringing food from home really helps the old budget, and if you find a quit smoking sure thing...let me know. :yup:

Never had that problem anyplace I worked. Always kept my metal lunch box near where I worked. Yea right. One of those illegal dangerouse metal lunch boxes with a thomos in the lid. Later when I drove a truck for some reason I carried the standard brown paper bag. I still ate reguarly at Hardees. Hard to carry hot biscuits-n-gravey in a paper bag.
But sometimes when my wife was in hospital I'd buy things and put them in a fridge in the waiting room or nurses lounge. Seems like something always came up missing. There are people who will eat anything and don't care who's it is.
Tedy I believe the employees need to have a get together or a talk with the boss. Sometimes just a warning will help. Rat poison and Exlax comes next!

I've never had my lunch stolen also, I also for the most part took left overs for lunch just for the reason T-man mentioned.... $5-10 a day for lunch ads up, why pay when there is all ways left overs from last nite.

Rat poison does sound interesting, but it works to fast.....RIP. Maybe some finger food like stuffed halipino peppers injected with something like..............

I have family and friends who don't have left overs. They throw everything they didn't eat that meal out.
As for us, I've had left over left over left overs before. Seems better each time.:drink:(y)
In fact we're having left over pizza later today. And if there's any left I may have it again before it turns green.;)

Sardine sandwiches almost never get stolen for some reason.
    Although some workplaces ban them.
I worked at a place that banned collard greens.
Damn yankees just didn't appreciate the smell of fine food....:49::49:

Lunch room food thievery seems to be a common problem. I don't understand people's thinking, "Well, it's in the fridge - it must be for ME!"

Tedy - with Deb's situation, it sounds like it could be more than one thief. This really calls for an 'offensive' solution, if you get my drift. Otherwise, it will keep happening.

I would certainly sabotage a brown bag........the Ex-Lax brownies seem like a good idea.

We both chatted about how it could be more than one person and the likely hood of it being a long term worker does not jive as in the 16+ years she has worked there food never went missing until the new 8 arrived.....but you never know, rite?

She tells me it has been brought up and politically correct signs:)slap:) have been posted but to no avail. I don't work there and Deb won't let me have any fun, but if I did work there you bet I would leave something extra special in the lunch room fridge. The laxative is a good idea, but it needs some rip your but cheeks off hemorrhoid helper for getting the message across "don't steel other peoples food or"........

I guess I am old fashioned, with the razor blades in the apples and all. Then you can spot 'em.

We don't want to go that far. Just make them suffer and have uncontrolable bodily functions for stealing food.

I find this amazing that coworkers would steal someone else's lunch. I/we have never had this problem where I work. If anything it's the total opposite, folks leave their forgotten lunches in the fridge until it's moldy or out dated or just taking up all the room. You should see how many half bottles of soda are in there.
In our lunch room we have a few rules:

    1) food in the fridge belongs to whoever put it there.
    2) food on the table is intended to be shared
    3) if you dirted it, you clean it

#3 is the one that's is quite often ignored.

I actually try not to use the fridge. I bring my lunch is a cooler bag. Stuff doesn't go off in the few hours between clock in and lunch.

Good luck Deb this has got to be so furstrating for you.

The is the one and only Dave's brand. At <$10 it is a sure fire cure for lunchroom theft.
    Pun gleefully intended.
We had to resort to this at work last year. It has not happened since.
Beware, even though this is a jack@$$ you're dealing with, a little of this goes a long way. It is dangerous stuff.:evilsmile:  :mad::mad:
The original Dave's Insanity Sauce is the only sauce ever banned from the National Fiery Food Show. This is even hotter.
