I was told by my buddy that the back seat cover would not come open without the tail gate being down, but my windows stuck shut so it's never been open since i had it. Well last week i finally cleaned the back out so that i could see the 3rd seat door, and low and behold it came up! I was then bumbed at the fact that there was'nt a seat in the hole.
Question..... were the back seats on the wagons
removable, or did this model just not come with one....and then if so, whats the big jaccuzi hole for, if theres already a spare tire nook in the quarter panel?!!! I'm so confused and now more than likely looking for a third seat. Now i know why 3/4 of the wagons at Pomona had there third doors shut....maybe no seat to show? These were all 9 pass too.

Is it possible it was removed at some point?

    find...

Thats what im wondering. I don't see the purpose for the deep hole except maybe luggage when you already have a spare tire hole. Ok, and if it's removable does it clip in like a suburban or van seat? I see what looks like seat hooks, but were they made that easy to remove?

    Mine is the same.
    It's a 68 Country Sedan .
And it too has just a large storage compartment in the back.
I think the jump seats we're an option ?

Third row seating options were a matter of bolting in the seat. If it did not have the option from the factory, the seat mounts might not be welded in. I'm not familiar with the details of your year/model.
I used to remove both my 2nd and 3rd row seats for road trips so that I would have massive underfloor storage. I could pack my gear for a week long trip and have nothing but a bedroll visible in the back.

Thanks Steve-E-D. This sheds some light on the situation. Oh by the way its a 63' Belair. Those third seats i suppose are like hen's teeth to find, but i'm gonna start looking.

You can tell if your wagon was built as a 6-passenger or 9-passenger by checking the model code in the VIN - fourth and fifth digits
    '35' is a 6-pass
    '45' is a 9-pass

    3rd Seat

If the wagon was available with a 3rd seat ,the back is the same either way. No sense to tool up for 2 different rear floor plans. Same on the Dodge if there is no seat just a big storage area, if it has seat it all fits in the same place .
