I have been collecting parts for a number of years to build a fun '29 the car woodie station wagon....the plan was to build the car with a soft removable top.....after 6 years all I have to show for all my hard work is a rolling chassis with the body mocked up in cardboard....thinking about selling and starting over with a more complete to start with....doesn't need to be a Model A....Mike Miller Springfield, OH.

Welcome to the forum Mike! Sometimes especially with a project that old you just have to hit the restart button. Finding something in more complete condition might be a lot more fun for you, good luck!

    Welcome Mike!

That 29' project sounds COOL! I would agree, and disagree with the rest here, meaning that maybe you keep your eye peeled for a wagon, but please don't abanden what sounds like the beginings of a very cool project. Are your plans to do it as a two door woody? Chop Top? Rod or resto? If you keep on it, be sure to post build pics.....
    and......welcome!

    :Welcome:to the forum.
I suggest you check out all the station wagons at reasonable prices available for sale. Several members keep us up on the better buys by doing all the work of searching. They can even help you decide which are the better buys. Take advantage of this offer. You will have a wagon to drive and enjoy.
But don't give up on your dream woody. Keep after it and when you see progress you will want to continue until it's finished. It doesn't have to be a show car and please don't make it a ratrod. Something in between for cruising and small car shows will keep you smiling for many years.

What kind of 29 woody are you working on? It may be a bit on the pricey side, but there are kits available for some of the cars, and that makes a very good starting point for doing what you are after, instead of having to make all the pieces from nothing. The cuts, especially where the pieces meet, and where the wood meets the body have to be pretty precise for the whole thing to work, and at least the kits have that part done for you. Considering that the original roof on most woody wagons was slats covered in cloth, it sounds like your idea should not be all that difficult to accomplish. Good luck with it and keep us up to date.
