Silverfox, I'm glad to see you agree on the idea.
If you want a proto-type calender go to http://www.calenders.com/

    Click on create your calender.

I don't think the calender is what you will be selling, this calender.com has the better idea for selling calenders. Instead you want to sell the idea that the sales of the calender restores cars and the purchaser feels part of the project.
It would be similar to that you can buy cookies anytime but when you buy Girlscout cookies it is serveing a purpose,
My last thought to remember is that in our present economy it may be a lot tougher than the vision we may be thinking about.
I will be right here if you want to bounce ideas around more.. My ideas flow like rainwater but I like to be objective too.:bouncy:

If you're gonna sell them online, offer a screensaver type that flips through the pics too, maybe daily or monthly. Throw it on a CD, with a printable version or a user customizable version, grouped by decade, brand, etc.

    Heck of an idea.

Screensaver engines are really simple to build and install. They are basically a DLL with the .SCR file format. That lets them access the operating system's core engines (GDI and Kernel (timers, etc.) They shouldn't be more than 2 Megabytes in size, most of which is the graphics/slides), the rest is runtime code.

I have an old one from the Economist Magazine with all the worlds time zones and database info overlayed on a flat map of the world with all the countries laid out, that gives population, birth and death rates, GDP, etc. and is only 470 kilobytes.

Stefan (wagonmaster) and I and others could probably whip up an architecture for it, while others put together some ideas of what else could go into it. Key events around the car, production numbers, how many are still around, etc.

    Good thinking guys! (y)

I wanted to create a wagon calendar for 2009, but I ran out of time. My idea was to ask members to submit wagon photos for a wagon calendar and then create and sell the calendar using zazzle.com. I think subaruforester.org did something similar as they are selling a Subaru Forester calendar, which looks good.

What is nice about Zazzle is that they take care of producing and shipping the calendar and their are no minimum quantity to buy. In addition, we could create different types of wagon calendars, like Patrick suggested.

This is an interesting idea.... BTW, This site comes up first in Google for "station wagon forum" and I believe is the most active wagon only forum on the web! :bouncy:

Good idea, but would most probably be a nightmare to support. People have different computer configs, versions of windows, etc. A calendar would be much easier!

I can run the 1998 Economist or the 2000 Bosch screensavers and they're only one file with an INI file, which could be tucked into the registry. It just calls the GDI and Kernel for a couple settings (Time of day, user settings for running the screensaver (interval) and screen config (High Color/True Color). An empty one without other code is about 24KB. If I did it in VB6, all the Windows OSes install the VB runtime as part of the OS setup. I just couldn't do it for a Linux OS, or a Java script.

Anyway, the offer is out there.

I thought it would be cool to open up a vintage-style gas station with the full service and everything, as they were once-upon-a time. Even found a location on Hwy 16 in Rio where I'd wanna do it haha. These cars have a certain personality to them, like the old ones are like an old friend kinda.

Also, the calendar idea is awesome! Would be a super way to make money to see some of these babies redone.

Yeah, its like trying to read the content labels on those tootsie rolls. You have to have a chemistry kit in the cookie aisle. :rofl2::rofl2:
