You'll love it!

 

Only driven it home from the dealer, and already do. Sooooo much nicer than the HHR. Less than 18k on the clock. Only minor hitch - cloth seats and no heaters in them. Having the dealer add them as part of the deal.

 

Cool, my neighbour has one, actually she just up graded from her old one(only 2yrs. old) to a brand new one. She loves it, I'm sure you will too...enjoy and congratulations.

 

It's Marcia's wheels, but it will make a great road trip vehicle.

 

So Marshal,, question here...
Why did you guys go with the EDGE instead of something as the FLEX,,
which is more of a wagon type of vehicle.....?

Even tho I am a dyed in the wool ( and everything else ) mopar person
I have been looking at the FLEX for next driver as Chrysler LLC offers me nothing....

 

Marshall, You and your wife will love the new rig. FORD is putting out some impressive stuff and the Edge is a great choice. It's amazing how much interior room they have. Congrats, and enjoy.

 

Personally, I think the Way Back Machine is the road trip car! That is the one with the room and the comfortable ride! Personally, I am not a fan of any of the new cars. All the companies seem to have forgotten that on a 10 or 12 hour trip, softness counts in the seats. I seem to sit ON the new car seats, not in them. The other thing I hate about any new car I have been in is that the sight lines are terrible! The wipers are rotten, too. That laid back front window means that the A pillars are HUGE, and the wind play Hell with the long wiper blades needed to clear enough glass to see. Then again, I may be a bit prejudiced about the new beasts. Hope you guys love the new car, anyway. Have fun with it.

I agree with MikeT on the terrible visibility on most newer vehicles. My old truck is a 2004 and driving it is like having a telephone pole at each end of the dash.
Our daughter has an Edge or Flex ?? and she loves it. I do too but have no idea which model she has. They all look the same.

As to why we chose the Edge, it was basically a matter of personal choice. It's Marcia's vehicle, not mine. Although she likes my Safari, she didn't want to drive one herself. Also, since the Flex is a newer vehicle, there's not as many of the around. The Edge has been around since 2007. In fact, there's a new one in the pipeline right now (I believe set to come out for the 2015 model year....)

The HHR had almost 90k miles on it, and although it's been extremely reliable, we were pretty much tired of its limitations. It feels confining on the inside - not all that much interior room, fairly narrow. And with the huge A pillars and high belt line, you got the feeling you were driving a submarine at times.

We also decided it would be nice to have the all-wheel drive.......

 

As far as styling goes I prefer the Flex. But I know nothing about the two. I'm definitely an older vehicle person. I haven't driven many newer vehicles but I've felt like I was driving a tub with a tiny steering wheel. In the end, however, I hope it turns out to be a great and reliable vehicle for you that you come to love.

My sister-in-law has one and my nephew has one, too.
They both love them!

 

A year'ish back or so I would have asked why the Escape was not considered for a used car, but how the body style has changed from my honeys 2011 version .....

.....If I was looking today, for "new" I would look at the Edge and walk past the Escape. Looks as rear window over the shoulder viability is still there and the looks are much nicer.

Even though you have only had it for maybe 24 hours, please give us some feed back as per visibility while driving (front and rear), seat comfort, leg room etc, etc. I and I'm sure other would be interested also, first hand experience is all ways better than hear say, I saw one for 5 minutes once, etc

The final dicition about my Honeys 2011 Escape came from first hand experience much of from our site members ( Tiki Ian having been the one confermed it, they had one:2_thumbs_up_-_anima) and we have no regrets about it, it turns on a dime (great for city driving), great all around visibility, very comfortable seats with ample leg room on the one long road trip we did and this is coming from a guy who has ample steel bolted to his pelvis and lower spine.

I realize personal choice, in 2011 I tried steering my honey towards a Flex that was on the lot and I have to admit now for no more reason other than 'It looks more like a wagon honey". No hind site today, I'm glad we chose the Escape over a Flex and I got to test drive the flex. looking back, no regrets and I'm thinking you won't have any also
