A friend of mine helped me run some diagnostic equipment on the engine. He said it had essentially been running on only 4 cylinders. We got it adjusted, and it seems to be running better. I have yet to take 'er out for a test run though. Maybe tomorrow, we'll see.

So did you gain another 2 or 4 cyclinders. Great finding those extra parts. ;)

It seems to have a bit more power, but now it diesels a bit before shutting off. We may have set the idle too high.

What all did you do? Sounds like it needs a full major tune up. If the 4 plugs were not firing, do an oil change, too, as it is a sure bet you have gas in the oil. Make sure the timing is set right, and get that carb adjusted properly. I'll lay dollars to donuts it is out of adjustment. Try to make sure that the metering rods are as close to even as you can, else you are running a 2 stage 2 bbl carb.

    Yeah, ya lost me here...

I'm gonna go ahead and admit it now: I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to car repairs/tune-ups. My friend attached some meter thing to some hoses (I think?) while the engine was running. The meter showed idle RPMs, and he did something with some screws in the engine (said something about jets being out...?) Sorry I'm being so vague, but my memory isn't that great, and while I tried to pay attention, I didn't catch much. I do know he somehow adjusted the idle to 1000 RPM while in park.
As far as the oil change thing, it's only been about 900 miles since my last one. Do I really need one that soon?:confused::confused:

It's just your ordinary dash protector pad. These were quite common to have back in the 80's. The factory instrument panel pads tended to crack if left out in the sun continuously. Since my pad still doesn't have any cracks, I wanted to protect it as much as possible.

Gotcha Krash, thanks. I personally don't like the look of it, but I bet it works great to keep your phone from sliding around!

Wish me luck everyone, please. Tomorrow I'm going to attempt to replace my front coil springs, and while I'm at it, my upper and lower ball joints.
I've got the parts, the tools, and the book, along with lots of wd-40/anti seize spray, so I should (please please please) be good to go.

The car is in the garage with some heaters going so it should be warm enough to work tomorrow.
The wife isn't too happy with me though. I had to put hers in the driveway so I would have room to park the safari at an angle to have access to everything, and they're calling for more snow tonight. I had to promise her I would go out and scrape her car and get it warm for her if she has to go anywhere tomorrow. Oh well, It's a small price to pay if I can work on my car while being warm and dry while it's -5F outside.

Will update when I'm done. I'm hoping that will be around noon tomorrow, and not 5pm tuesday...

Well, I didn't get everything done today, but I did get the driver side finished. Had to go to autozone for some pieces, and ended up deciding to replace the calipers and pads while I had everything off.

I'll be doing the other side tomorrow, and I am assuming it will go faster now that I've done one side. There was a learning curve, but thankfully it wasn't too bad.

My wagon has been running great.Did a oil change recently, changed both accessory belts.
Had windows tinted and will be putting on 16 inch wheels and tires soon.
After that-going with coil overs all around to get that low look.

I may have mine traded for a '73 Cadillac Sedan DeVille with 36K actual miles! Not as cool as my wagon, but 100% rust free, like new interior and ride and drive! Just needs some paint!

They want around $4000 for it and I could never get that much cash for my wagon, so the trade would be good if I could do it. We will see I guess. I really wanted to get mine road worthy and drive at least once. Maybe if something breaks soon I can get it like that and at least drive it once. lol.
