Hi all, new here. I always loved american cars. I grew up in a Plymouth Valiant -66, that we had as a daily driver until 1980 when my father went to Philadelphia for work and brought home a Oldsmobile Cutlass. He was not really happy with the choice because of the straight 6-engine. But one month after he had bought the car a mechanic opened the hood for him and asked my father to count the spark plugs. He counted to eight! Very embarrassed but happy he went home to my mom and told her the news. To my fathers defense the car was sold as a 6 cal engine… My father still have the Valiant and the cutlass, but not as daily drivers. My car record includes a Mustang -68, olds cutlass -71, Buick Skylark Cab -71, Caprice Stationwagon 88, Jeep Grand wagoneer -84. Today I have a Grand Wagoneer 91, Jaguar XJS -85, Jaguar xj8 (daily driver) and a Buick Estate Wagon -75. The Grand Wagoneer I bought from the states (north carolina) in 2011 without my wires knowledge. She happened to see an email about the purchase and became really mad. I had promised her to sell the old Grand Wagoneer (really bad condition and took a lot of time and we just got our first kid), instead I bought another one… My brilliant plan was to say to her "I have one good news, and one bad news. I have sold the old Wagoneer, but bought I new one". I never got to tell her this, since she found the email… But today she is really happy about the jeep. When I got obsessed with the Estate Wagon I changed plan. I took here with me for the first test-drive, I even let her begin to drive the car. A much better plan! The Jeep is now days in good condition, but when it came to Sweden it wasn´t to good. The pick up is a story of itself… The Estate Wagon has a restored 454 and is in really good condition what I can see. But the woodgrain is missing. And the tailgate window is not working without a helping hand. I therefore have (for the moment) 2 questions to you all: Any one knows how to remove and replace the moldings? Any links here you can share with me? I´ve searched with no luck. I´ve been looking into Brandons restoration (really enjoying that!) and hoped for some help with the tailgate window… I think that is the cable that is bad, the engine seems to work fine. Cheers LAsse
Welcome to the Nuthouse we call home. You will fit right in around here! Come to that, so would your father! LOL I'm sure someone here can answer any of your questions, and I'm certain you will be able to answer others. Don't forget to post pictures of your cars. They sound quite wonderful!
Lasse! You sound like a bonified car addict like most of us...which isn't a bad thing, though. I guess you get it from your dad. Jack
I have noticed a lot of our Scandinavian friends seem to appreciate Detroit iron. Interestingly enough I love classic Volvos. Especially Amazons. mike
Welcome to the forum, pictures of the wagon please! Doesn't the Buick have a 455 or did you put in a chebby?
