Abe great to hear its a family heirloom !! keep an eye out for the other new guy 'Lowagon'...hes doing the same car
Beautiful Monte Carlo, Dad's. It looks like you more than know what you're doing when it comes to restoring or maintaining classics, so I have a feeling you're going to do a phenomenal job on the Impala. That is so cool that it's been in your family since new. So excited to watch your progress. Was the Monte Carlo purchased by your Dad as well?
Thank you. The Monte Carlo belonged to a friend of the family's mom, purchased new for $3,200 (have the bill of sale from the dealer). I first layed eyes on it back '78, I was all of 13 yrs old. I remember telling him that that car would be mine some day. As life goes his mom pasted and Joe (my friend) started to drive it more often, still I persisted on buying it, asked to give me first crack it when he was ready to sell. Joe unfortunately suffered a few strokes and could no longer drive. The car sat in the garage for years, I continued to ask about it. Finally, he decided to sell me the car, stating that he wanted me to have it cause he knew I would take care of it. So in a sense, I guess the Monte Carlo has been in the "family". Joe is in a home now, I take the car show him what I have done to it, he gets a big kick out of it. Tells me his mom would be happy to know that it has been well taken care of.
VERY nice Monte Carlo, Dad's! I used to own a 1970 Caprice in the same color scheme. Looks like you are indeed taking great care of it.
