After 2 weeks the dealer has not picked up the car. I talked to him Friday and expressed my concerns. Basically I told him I thought I had been very patient through all of this and suggested that if he could not get the car fixed very soon send me the money for an engine and I would swap it myself. He agreed of course so I should receive my check tomorrow for an agreed amount of $1,250.Cheap I know but personally I would rather do it this way.. Myself. Before I drop the engine in I plan to install a new timing belt, water pump, all idler pulleys and tensioner. Beings these engines also have head gasket issues I also plan on replacing those as well. It will cost me a few bucks now but at least I will have the piece of mind KNOWING that the engine will be 100%. .I personally think this is better that him throwing a junkyard engine in it.After all this is my wifes car and I dont want my wife and 4 kids riding around in something I know nothing about. May cost a little now but in the long run I feel this is the best thing.I plan on getting one of those JDM engines with 30K (so they say).
Andy, did you hear about our own 60 corrupt dealers? http://www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/story/2009/03/09/mb-auto-dealers.html And our government won't release the list!!! :banghead3:
i don't know if this will help you but there are a couple of good subaru forums out there. legacy central and ultumate subaru massage board. these guys are good and should help you out.
Classing....Subaru came out with a new head gasket for the problem cars. Be sure to look into that and get the newer one.
