To be fair, you left out the incessant screams of: “CHRISMAS LIGHTS!” and “STOP TOUCHING ME!” and “STOP SINGING LIKE THAT!” and “I WANT TO SIT IN THE BACK!” and “NO! IT’S MY TURN!” and “MOMMY! (fill in the name here) IS LOOKING AT ME!” But yeah… you still got the picture! The joy of children 6 and younger! I’ll share a secret… I don’t care what car it is. When they get to be about 5 or 6 years old they start to develop a personality. They develop feelings. I know that this may make me seem like a loon, but I don’t care. I know it is true. They may not be alive in the same sense as you and I, but they do develop something that resembles sentience at some point. Maybe on an extremely low level, but it is still there. It is at this point that may people give up on them and trade them for something newer, because they don’t care to put up with the car’s developing quirks and idiosyncrasies. I am sure that my good old wagon was overjoyed at being a real family car again. For a long time it has been my parent’s seldom used (or needed) backup car. It hasn’t held more than one child at a time since the 1990s. I am sure that it was quite happy to be fulfilling its true purpose again. Even if it had to endure all those screams of: “CHRISMAS LIGHTS!” and “STOP TOUCHING ME!” and “STOP SINGING LIKE THAT!” and “I WANT TO SIT IN THE BACK!” and “NO! IT’S MY TURN!” and “MOMMY! (fill in the name here) IS LOOKING AT ME!”
Tree transporter OK so its not my wagon ,, but its still really big !!! My 58 Coronet works pretty well for the task at hand, this was a few years ago..
That's a great looking----almost station wagon. You could still haul a large Christmas tree and a herd of kids in it.
I am certain you are right. Cars do develop a personality. Since I seldom buy cars under 20 years old, I am well familiar with it! Love my old cars!
NYPD Dispatch: All units All units! Be on the lookout for an old white Ford Station Wagon with woodgrain carrying a large Christmas tree. The car was last seen leaving Rockefeller Square with the tree. Suspect is armed with a chainsaw and twine.
We had an ice storm that left ice on my Grand Marquis 1/2" thick in many spots. Lots of folks here were without power for 5-6 days. I killed two scrapers before I stuck a snowmobile mitt on my ball peen hammer and pounded away to get into our cars. We wound up taking The Mrs' Sebring to pick our our tree and that was a pretty dicey drive. I discovered an apparently newly acquired allergy to trees myself in carrying the tree to the car. On the drive home both of my hands turned bright red, swelled up a bit, and itched like nothing I've ever felt before. With all of the ice, snow, slush, etc it was waaaay too messy on the roads for me to risk the wagon this year. (the fact the the steering column is out and laying in my workshop had a little bit to do with it as well. ) Here are a couple of pics we took on last years tree pickup. I accidentally fired the flash on the first pic. After a little camera tweaking the others came out better.
