I may need to go to the dark side and get something other than white wall tires. I bought new Hercules ww but they look dinky even at 235/75r15 size. I think it's because the tread is rounded and not square and the the way they measure them. They just look a lot smaller than the michelins I took off because of cracking. I'm trying to find a bigger looking tire in a ww but am not having much luck. Any help out there on what you guys got? Found some nice raised letter ones just don't think they will look right on the colony park. HELP!!!

Trun the white lettering inside and black the lettering out. Use the black wall on the outside.

I guess it all depends on the tire, and what is important to you when it comes to the final look is the main thing:yup:

I chose black out on my Buick, but that was because I'm running truck tires and raised white letters saying 'Goodyear Wrangler" just didn't do the trick, yet on my honey's SUV winter rims it looks great (but that's not a wagon). My Olds has the letters out, BFG Radial T/A's is a different look.

Todays tire shops may not be as generous unless you pay extra to se what it would look like and then decide to swap so I'd suggest rolling 2 tires out to your car, stand back and have a serious look. Remember, what you like in the end is all that matters:thumbs2:

Well, Jake and Elwood handle the money - I wanted the Hoosiers, but they made me go with the black walls. The bosses say black walls, that's what you get. Jake and Elwood are the brains of the outfit....I'm just the eye candy!

It totally depends on your car's paint scheme and body design. White-letterd tires look cool with black rims and two-toned black/anthrazit paint

If your '77 CP is otherwise stock, with the factory full wheel covers, I think you really need to get whitewalls on it - and 'period-correct' whitewalls at that - none of this 3" wide whitewall business from the 50's. Your whitewall should be close to this ('78 CP shown) - around 7/8ths - 1" wide

For me, I tend to lean towards a factory correct look. I will say however that raised white letters can sometimes even look good with hub stock hubcaps. But if you're really aren't committed to a certain non-stock look and you haven't seen a look that you like after a Google search, than I would say to stay safe and go with black walls or even the stock white.

Here's a pic of white letter tires on a 77 LTD II Squire, just to give you an idea...

Methinks, those tires would look appropriate on this wagon

I really like your look, raised letters with the hub caps.

I like white letters with custom wheels on older cars. Whitewalls are a manndatory thing with full wheel covers! Factory aluminum wheels could go any way with white letters or whitewalls. I like blackwall tires on nearly everything.

I had blackwalls on my Merc with both the stock wheels and the chrome smoothiies, and got lots of positive comments. My '86 has whitewalls, which I intend to keep displayed out when I put those tires on the chrome smoothies I had on the Merc. I don't like the factory wire wheel covers that are stock on it.

Not a big fan of the white letter tire in a woody. I like the look on a non dinoc wagon but not on my colony park. Looks like I'm going to go with a suv type tire in a black wall as I can't seem to find anything In a white wall that is not only strong enough but also looks beefy to. I bought a set of ww tires and I can flex the side wall with my pinky and I need to run 40psi in them so that the weight of the car doesn't flatten them. They are also smaller then the tires I took off even though they are the same size235/75/15. I have them off while the rims are being painted, machined and clear coated so I don't want to put them back on when they are done.
