My '66 Coronet 500, with flash used. Notice the car takes up the whole picture with minimal intrusion of distractions.

My Coronet and my '37 Terraplane. Notice the split in the trees and grass, and neither bisect the cars. The cars are fully in the grassy area of the field of view. Nice, wispy sky adds to the effect.

When using a building as a background, try to center the car in question with the background elements. My '79 Chrysler is right in the middle of the two shop doors, with the right sun on a slightly overcast day.

Getting a good street picture can be tough. Notice the very rear of the Hudson parked in front of my wife's '78 New Yorker Brougham, along with the Olds parked in the driveway as background and the minivan in the street behind it. None are cut off much, and look proportioned in the overall setting. A good street scene, IMO. The only I do not like about the way this picture came out, is that the Sun was not quite far enough around the car for the driver's side to be illuminated properly. There is a little glare on the windshield, but not enough to be distracting.

Taking a picture of a white vehicle on a white background is difficult. My Dodge truck at Bonneville, and in a driveway in a Denver snowstorm. This saving grace in both pics is lighting and contrast. The camper and the gray bottom help at the salt flats, and the overcast skies and the gray, plus the mixed background, help with the snow pic.

For serious photography buffs, this is a great site:

    http://www.rigshots.com.au/howto.htm

Lighting and composition is key. One thing you see a lot of is when the car is taken at an angle, turn the front wheels in so you see more of the rim, vs tire.

Sorry to use a recent example, but...

It's not a perfect image, but I'm picky. I generally leave more room ahead of the car than behind, and it's ever so slightly slanted which I also try to avoid, but it's still a nice image I think.

Nice shot in the sundown light. That's a hard shot to pull off well.

That snow shot is real fine too, but it still brings shivers. We still dip down to -3C at nite, out here.:rofl2:

I think the best way to take great photos is to take shots at well light conditions with fluorescent lights in between.
