I don't recall how Rich and I came into contact with each other.

I had bought a 61 Ranchero and was having a blast with it. My folks had a Frontenac new in 1960 and I thought it would be fun to get one as well.

I don't remember if he contacted me about the one I bought, or if the guy I bought it from put me in touch with him. All I can tell you is he knew of the car and we conversed via internet for a while.

As far as the car is concerned, all I can tell you is it was off the road since the early 70's. The front end got whacked and it was junked. Pulled out of the yard, and sat in rural Saskatchewan until I bought it.

Hopefully I can get at it soon. I have all the parts, including a complete floor from 1961 that caught fire on a car transporter and was stored inside ever since. It's like an NOS one.

When you see Rich, tell him I said hey

Seems like you 2 are brothers from different mothers...........

Welcome to the forum, Graham! Great collection you have there. I like that rear photo of the Edsel. Kinda shows how they put the Edsel together from modified Ford parts. The tail gate even looks to be identical as the Ford.

The tailgate is the same. The whole body structure is the same. I think other than the front clip, the only difference is the cap they put on the upper tail of the quarters. The Ford had only the provision for one ornamental cap, whereas the Edsel had the tailight assembly there.

What is unusual about this car is the hood opens like a regular car. Hinges at the back. In 58 the hinges were at the front. And of course, all 59 Fords had front hinged hoods.

    Kind of bizarre.

Does anyone know where I can get the weatherstrip for the tailgate? What about the rubber for the rear and side windows. I have found 58, but nothing for 59. And apparently they are different.

    Welcome

Welcome to the "Longroof Society". I'm in Niagara Falls and just bought my 87 Buick LaSabre Estate Wagon. As you, I've always been interested in the "other" vehicles, not the usual 2door big 8 stuff. My other toy is a 73 VW Thing.

Looks like you've hot some cool stuff.

    Cheers
    Bob

Hey! I used to drive through Norwood a few times a year on HWY 7, way back in the 1970s! Neat town back then. Good to see you found us. :yup::wave:
