Hello everyone, You may call me Chris. I've always loved wagons. My first wagon was a 1992 Buick Roadmaster that I picked up in San Antonio. Unfortunately I had to sell it when the Air Force moved me to New Jersey. It was too big to put on the trailer. A few years ago I found a 1988 Mercury Colony Park. People were asking way to much for the GM whales so I settled for the Merc. I'm not brand loyal, I'm wagon loyal. It was basically sitting in the woods for a few years before the previous owner decided to sell it. He used it to try his hand at painting flames. It gives the car character so I left them on. Nothing else has been done to except to get it and keep it running. One day I would like to rebuild it and add a turbo or maybe swap in a Coyote 5.0.
it's a great place to , HAVE some fun and talk wagons, with great people and of course share so whats the plans for the wagon, man ? Did I say we like I tkink you will enjoy the ride on this craZy train ,stay safe, STAYcat
Welcome to the nuthouse we call home! Great save on the wagon. Neat idea to get some real 'go' under that hood. If I may make a suggestion, though. Instead of the Coyote, go for a real engine with real torque. The 351 fits in there a lot easier, and puts out torque where you can use it in that big and heavy a car. For less than the price of the new 5.0, you can get an SVT 5.8. You can stay with the fuel injection or go with a carburetor on it, but either way, you can gear it for economy, and still have the performance.
Thanks for the welcome everyone. @ fannie, The hood ornament is an Elvis skeleton. The previous owner put it on. @ miket1961, I thought about a 351 since you could order the 351 from the factory but I was thinking about the wow factor. Everyone asks if the 5.0 is original so I thought when you open the hood and see a new 5.0...
90Merc, I see you are in New Jersey. Do you plan on going to the Family Truckster and Grocery Getter Nationals at ATCO raceway, 23 Nov?
Darn, that Atco thing sounds great, even though I couldn't pull up the details on it. If I didn't have to work Saturday, I'd definitely go. I don't think I'd race my Colony Park, however. While I love the car, it is not known for its speed and performance. Oh, by the way, welcome Chris. I love the 5.0 badges on your fenders.
I'm not going to race, I don't think it would pass tech. It has a few "small" leaks and the battery tray has eroded away plus I don't think the inspectors will overlook the bungee cord holding the battery down. @snooterbuckets Thanks, I always thought the 5.0 badges were original until I looked at yours and 90merc.
if its an AHRA track they wont see the bungee to the joint RoNo are you tired yet of..."Dude...yur cars on fire"
