WOW!!! What a great car. It is amazing how well she stood up to being left in a cow pasture like that! Around here you would have found nothing but a pile of rusty bits on the ground!
You're so right, Mike T. I wonder how long it was sitting there and when it was originally parked there, if the driver had any idea that it wouldn't be moved in however long. Quite a find. Have fun with your project.
If you can barely see the barn is it still considered a barn find. I'm so excited for you...awesome resuce. Congratulations!
For a while, my family had a four door sedan version of the white one. A pretty good car, all things considered. But the family wore it out after a few years. Replaced it with a 65 Bel Air four door.
Here is a little history that was passed down. The gentleman that posted it on CL did it for his mother that needed to get rid of some things laying around the farm for heating oil money this winter. His parents bought it new from a local eastern Idaho dealer October 5th 1964. It was his mothers grocery getter/kid hauler up til 1973 when the timing chain went out. They pulled the engine and never fixed it. The wagon sat it a barn til 1988 when they decided to put it out to pasture. So I guess you could almost call it a barn find. What's 25 years in the field?
So you're the second owner? That's really neat you bought it from the original owner who purchased it new in '64. I wonder if she has any pics of it from back then.
Beautiful backdrop for the almost final resting place for this car. I hope you stay with that shade of blue, and hope you have a good time bringing her back to life! I had a good friend that was heavy into Oldsmobiles, and had a blue '64 Super 88 four door hardtop with a white interior. I love the '61 through '65 Oldses the most from that era.
