Snapped a pic of my wagon in front of the Lewis and Clark mural wall in downtown KC. Lewis is saying "She's a beauty, Clark".
Funny...I want to see less of the mural and more of the car. That guy's foot is sitting on the roof and windshield. You need a "Please look but don't touch" sign.
JRW - I think that's the first BIG picture of your wagon I've seen. She's a sharp looker. Nice details. Marshall
At least you got a thumbs up! Nice. The guy with the sack was probably taking it to his wagon, a Conastoga or Studebaker.
I thought Conestoga was another brand name for covered wagon with sag in middle. But you may be older and remember more about going westward ho with your four fathers and five or six mothers. Studebaker brothers first made wheel barrows.
I'm not old enough to remember seeing wagons like that, but I did grow up having Studes around always, and have learned a bit of their history. One thing I do know is that Studebaker built wagons first. The wheelbarrows came later when one of the Brothers went to California during the Gold Rush. Yes, but only for a short time- 1928 to 1933 I believe.
No wonder I never found the place last week. I did think Studebaker made wheelbarrows first, then wagons. I also remember Studebakers back in central Illinois regulary on the roads. Oddly I didn't realize the bullet nosed Studes were only a few years. They were everywhere around Peoria, Illinois and the small towns. Maybe because they were cheap used cars!
