Mike and his wife have picked the Merc up, and are pleased with the car! It was a fairly short ride from the airport to the bank, where we exchanged money and title. I kinda hated to see it go, but it's with a fine wagon-loving family (with a big dog!), so that's always a plus

Last pic of my Merc as my car...

Sounds the whole thing is a win win win for all parties involved. Good luck with the Squire; it looks like it's in phenomenal shape. Quite a find. The peeling on the those moldings is not an uncommon problem. It's the clear coating on there that peels off. Sorry, but I don't know any fix for it.
The Colony Parks are exempt from that since they had metal moldings, (possibly aluminum?), with dinoc on them.

Yes I did notice the nice wax job. I was waiting for Nan at the store today and we got sleet and snow for about 10 minutes (she got her Baptism into the great white north ;)). The lovely beads of water on the hood confirmed what I already knew. :D Love the turbine wheels by the way. Really fits her to a T.

Congrats Patrick and Mike!! Both nice cars!

Rev - I see your posting about parting out your 85. I'm looking for sunvisors for my 85 Colony Park. Somehow the mirror on the driver's side visor got cracked...was that way when I bought it. My interior is the tan color.

Tomorrow is the day! It's ready for pickup. Only reason I don't have it today is there is a home game in Norman, and no one with a brain enters that area on game day! Drunk fans and traffic like nowhere else!

Yeah, I drove by Autzen Stadium earlier today, where the Oregon Ducks will be playing U.C.L.A. at 4:00PM. Four hours before game time and the loonies had already filled the lots for their tailgating......

I am so excited for you Pat. That looks like a great ride and I am anxious to see how she turns out.

Picked up the Ford this afternoon. It was a 46-mile drive home with it. All in all, it seems to be a pretty nice ride. It had some old gas in it, as you could tell once it was on the way down the road by the smell of the exhaust. The Climate Control is pretty damn nice, as it is working as it should on every setting. The factory sound system leaves a bit to be desired. It's somewhat static-ey, and the frequency area does not light up; but I had the same issue with the Mercury.

I've never been a fan of wire wheelcovers on most cars, and this is no exception. Hopefully, that will cured soon! I washed the car on the way home, to get some tree yick and dirt off it. The interior door panels could stand a good shampooing. Carpet is nice and not worn out. No rips or holes in the cloth seats, although it was obviously owned by a smoker, from the few burn spots and dirty ash trays. All of the exterior anodized aluminum trim is in excellent condition, with no clouding. The woodgrain itself is a 7 of 10, and the light "wood" mouldings are a solid five. Bumpers are bright and in excellent shape!

The friend I bought the car from, had a new windshield installed, a new glass pack muffler and tailpipe, and changed all of the fluids. I don't see any leaks anywhere. So far, so good (knocks on fake woodgrain!)!

I'll take some pics later this afternoon and post them up.

Soon to come are tinted windows, carpet for the cargo area, and a complete detail job.
