Hey guys, I've been away for a while and I feel I needed to re introduce myself to the group. It's been a couple years since I've posted on here and about that long since I've did anything to my wagon. After the car left me stranded on the side of the road and with the lack of time and money to do any real work to the car, I said the heck with it and shoved it in the garage and more or less used it for storage. Then, a trip to a car show this past weekend got me thinking about taking on a project. I feel that the time is right and I finally have a little money to play with so off to the garage I went to uncover the station wagon! A little about the car. It's a 1970 Country Squire that was owned by a local doctor as a vacation car. He bought the car new and used it to take his family back and forth to the beach. My father has done all of the routine maintenance on the wagon since 1985. When the doc decided to sell the car, the only people that were interested wanted to turn it into a derby car. Not wanting to see his wagon demolished, he decided to give it to my father since he had took such good car of it over the years. The wagon as a whole is a pretty decent car. The paint is pretty much shot and the interior has seen better days. Power is a 390 with just a tick over 64K original miles. My plan for the car is not to restore it, but to preserve it. I'm planning on rebuilding the brakes, steering and suspension. Then I want to clean up up the interior and enjoy the car! Thanks for listening guys and I will keep everyone updated on the progress! Dustin
Welcome back to the nuthouse! Great wagon you have there. Sometimes it is amazing what a buff and polish will do for the old paint. You may also find some Pledge furniture polish makes the wood grain look fairly decent again, too. Stabilizing her where she is sounds like a great idea. That way you never have to worry over much about the normal wear and tear that seems to show most on a fully redone car. When you get into the work, remember that there are a whole lot of people around here with answers to any questions that pop up. Some of those answers will even be right!
Good to hear your wagon is getting some love! That's a cool ride, and even better that you know all the history on it.
I love that grill! NICE WAGON!:2_thumbs_up_-_anima So glad to see it out in the sun light. Buff it up, wax that woodgrain, dus toff that interior and go for a cruzzzzz.
