I am only vaguely familiar with this.. so I am sure someone else will explain it better..

But the torsion bars are just long 'rods' that tie into the suspension. There is a huge bolt on the one end and the other end is in a slot that cant move. So when you 'torque' them down with an impact wrench...they twist (or torque.. thus the name I believe). Depending on which way you twist them you exert or release torque to the suspension thus raising or lowering the cars front end.

Its actually a simple and cool idea... but I am sure there are disadvantages as well.

Do you remember how kids used to raise up those late 70's early 80's Buick Regals and Oldsmobiles? I believe those were torsion bar suspensions as well (I think).

lowering a mopar with torsion bars is easy. find an old chiltons that covers your car (the big ones that cover all makes of american models) check your library. the only problem with doing this is your front end will be softer so chances are higher for bottoming out when going over dips. a slitely better way is to change tire size to a smaller diameter. from the pics it looks like you got 235/75/15s if you went to 195/70/15s you would lose about 2 inches of hight and still have about the same ride quality. just my 2 cents and experance. good luck.

I ended up going with 235/60/15s and it looks awesome. Only problem is my speedo is WAY off. :) The stance is perfect though.. just what I wanted.

looks good. your speedo problem is easy to fix. you need to change the drive gear in the trans. what you need to do is to find out how mush your speedo is off. find a road or highway with mile markers or a speedometer check area. travel 5 to 10 miles making note of distance traveled on you odometer and compair with the distanced traveled on the road. since your tires are smaller diameter your odometer should show more miles traveled. find the percentage of differance. now take out the drive gear on the trans. and count the teeth. use the percentage you figured out before and multiply that into the number of teeth on you drive gear. that will be your new number of teeth for a new gear. go to a chrysler dealership and buy a new gear that is as close the the number of teeth you need. hint go with a larger number of teeth. now replace the gear with the new one.

example. old tooth count is 30, speedo is off 10%
    .10 x 30 = 3 - 30 = 27 , new tooth count would be 27

    hope this helps
