After many years our rechargeable double AA batteries slowly died and needed some new ones. I go to Grope-Ya (Rona) the local hardware store and grab a new pack, pack of 8 = $15.99 and my 1/4 of a brain does the needle scratching on a record album! A few weeks ago my honey wanted some of those garden lites, the solar power kind. So the ones she liked were 6 in a box for $7.49 and BTW they work all night and don't look that bad as well as giving a decent amount of lite. So I go to the lite section and rip open a box because I was sure the exact same battery was in the lite, low and behold it is the exact same double AA rechargeable! If I needed a charger, well that would have been $44 and only comes with 6 batteries but none the less, do the math! I have the charger yet if I had not bout the garden lamps I would have not thought twice and bit the cost. All ways makes me wonder...... What other BS cash grab things are out there, that you don't need to pay as much for? 6 batteries for $7.49 compared to 8 for $15.99
Buy yourself one of those rectangular 6V batteries and very carefully remove the top . There are about 30 Double AA batteries in one of them and you are going to spend less than $5 bucks. Regards,Wizzard Old Guys Rule .
I've heard and seen this online....yet I've also read/seen that it just won't/doesn't happen.... But what I have found regarding this is, the batteries are not rechargeable in the 6v but the regular throw away kind is like your saving a penny, just to spend another dime..... More and more, the 6-volt battery thing seems to be more of a not gona happen urban legend
Never said they were rechargeable . Just that there was a passel of them in there for a reasonable rate . And yes it is for real and not a hoax .
All cool man...... I'm just WTF:confused: and that I saved more than half the $ for the exact same thing Now I also have spare pare parts for the garden lites
The solar batteries do work well. I picked up a bunch in a broken open pack of solar lights for five bucks. But the 6v thing is Deff a Internet hoax. Have seen the same thing saying there are watch batteries in aa batteries. Here is the snopes site. Is great for searching out net hoaxes. http://www.snopes.com/photos/humor/batteryhack.asp
I have bought the solar lites for a dollar at Dollar Tree. Even when they quit working (heavy rain and dirt) I opened and cleaned them and never (duh) got that they are rechargeable AAA batteries.
