Time to put fresh tires on my 1975 Pontiac Catalina Safari. Right now it has 235/75R15 whitewalls. Do I stick with those or go for a 255/70R15 with raised-white letters? Has anyone done the larger tires on these wagons? If so, how do they fit? And, of course, any pictures?

    Thanks.

Good luck David. I'd go to a tire store and see if they will measure or try that size on your wagon. Bigger would look nice cruisin A-1-A.

David, since your wonderful Safari sports original wheel covers, I would stay with original style whitewalls. The only way the raised white letters look right to my eyes is if you go with Rally wheels. Then they look fantastic!

If you want what it actually CAME with your going to be in LT235/75/15. As most of the 235's are not a 6 ply tire for actual CAR's anymore.

all of these I have seen with the original spare tire are 6ply rated cause they are very heavy.
