Just having the hitch and wiring harness on the car is de facto proof of misuse of the vehicle. Better hope nothing ever goes wrong with any part of the drive train and electrical system. Nissan is likely to declare the warranty null and void. You sure don't want to ruin a $10,000 batter pack, either. One other consideration. If your vehicle is not rated to tow, and you have a trailer on it, your insurance is null and void. You are, by definition, not within the certification of the vehicle. You would not be covered even with the other driver at fault, because your vehicle is not legal. Insurance companies will use any excuse to deny a claim, and this one is actually valid. There is more to towing than the strength of the engine. There is the strength of the transmission and unibody to consider. Even a light trailer can put the wrong stresses on a car, and the thin sheet metal can't handle it. All in all, I would say a hitch on any car not rated to tow is a FAIL of the first water.

Why is the Leaf stupid? If I lived in a metro area and worked close to where I lived, I'd consider an electric vehicle. The Leaf has 110 hp and 210 ft/lb of torque. That is the same horsepower and 5 more ft./lb of a stock AMC 258 6 cyl. I tow my dirt bike with my Ford Festiva that has 63 HP and less than 100 ft lbs. of torque. It does fine except when it gets hilly.

Eagle: The difference is that when your Fiesta runs low on fuel, you pull into a gas station and fill it up in about 5 minutes. When the Leaf runs low on fuel, you find a charging station and an hotel room, and wait 8 hours or so.

Yeah, but the Benny hill TV show music theme goes a lot better with your car than the lief!

    :rofl2:

Years ago we had a guy at work who owned one of your car, it was comical when he drove up and got out..... he was like 6 foot 15 inches tall:biglaugh:. I will say though having been given a ride in that car, I could not believe the leg room for some thing that appears so small.

I'm 6'2"ish and very comfortable in it. I had 3 other adult males all in the 6' range in the car and they couldn't believe how much room there was in it. It's like Dr. Who's TARDIS inside. :D
