Is a Pacer a wagon?

Beautiful '66 Corsa, Clark!
Brings back fond memories of my third vehicle, also a '66 turbo Corsa, purchased in 1970 or thereabouts for the princley sum of $750. Mine was the ("Butternut"?) yellow color, with a black interior. It was in excellent overall body condition, except for missing the chrome molding on the trailing edge of the engine lid. Engine-wise, I think it needed some help. Always thought it should have had more power than it did (but I did get it up to 105 on the Harbor Freeway near downtown L.A. once). Unfortunately, I was a college student at the time, and had to sell it a short while later when finances got tough. Wish I had it now.......

 

I'm trying to find out what year Falcon my mom's parents' car was when she was a kid. She doesn't remeber much about it, except it was gold, with a red pinstripe, with thinner black striping around that.

thats what lifes all about...your car should always be TWICE as old as your girlfriend!!...

 

Pin-striping didn't really become a fad until about 1965. I think Ford started glomming onto the gold colour scheme around then as well. Are the front fenders boxy around the headlights or round-ish?

 

BTW is there anyone on the board with a Corvair wagon?

 

Clark,Very nice Corsa! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima I swear I honestly believe I have seen that car before.Did you happen to see the red Corsa in Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine Jan,09 issue? I absolutely love Corvairs and curse Ralph Nader everytime I see one or hear his name.

 

When I read the build article on it in Hot Rod she was in high school and about 16 so yes too young unless you are in high school also.
Here's a Pacer that isn't a wagon but was a SCCA racecar back in the day.

 

Still in high school, but 16's too young, once you turn 18, that gets you into some trouble

 

Now that I think back my married older sister had a Pacer wagon that she bought just after my mom got hers, they called them the Guppy and the Pregnant Guppy.
My mom ordered hers with the coppery brown body and white vinyl top so it was the same color two tone as her '59 rambler wagon, both AMC. That was her first car bought used in 1962 because she didn't learn to drive until she was older.

 

Ha, I was watching Home Improvement last nite and Jill was listing off all the negatives about this friend of Brad's. She said "He's a liar, sneaky, deceptive, his father drives a Pacer for goodness sakes!"

Is a Gremlin considered a wagon? I've never actually looked at how the back was arranged, but isn't it a hatch of some type?

 

Yep, its a hatchback. The 'X' options could get you a 327 - 4 spd though with dual exhaust!

 

It's a hatchback for sure, and it looks like a shoe. There was a dealer that did 401 conversions and sold them, must of been fun cars, a lot of guys did drag race Gremlins. Mt friend had a Levi's gremlin with the denim interior, I think the paint had simulated orange stitching too. I worked at a gas station when they first came out and there was a problem getting gas into them. They had that huge rear gas cap with the Gremlin on it but the filler neck had a problem and it took forever to get gas to go into the things. You would try to get the gas to go in as slow as you could but it was just squeeze-click-squeeze-click. I think they put that little Gremlin creature on the cap to mock whoever tried to put gas into it.
