Your best bet on this car is to find a Weber conversion, the carb is simple and bulletproof and will wake that L16 up big time. Usually if you go car specific it comes with the manifold adapter as well.

Start on Webers website, you can either buy direct or they can steer you towards a local distributor. I work for Napa in Utah and we have a local Weber dealer, the kits are usually around $300.00 to $350.00 range, if you need a manifold adapter seperately they are usually around $50.00.

I popped a Weber carb on my 80 Prelude along with a header, free flow exhaust, Accel ignition and a hotter cam. That perked up the 75 hp 1751cc stocker nicely. No more shifting back to 4th on the interstate with the air on and it made some cool noises with the K&N filter on top of it. Zero problems with that Weber in the time I owned it(approx 80k miles for me/160k on it when I sold it) and I know the car had over 300k on it when it was "retired."

It sure would be a change from getting taking for money from some local guy here in Halifax who charge me over $300.00 to rebuild the original carb and it still does'nt work :(

Datsun 510's are popular cars to hot rod. They can be turned into fun little sports cars. Find a 510 enthusiasts' site and ask them some questions.
