Any info on this car would be great! All I know is I love it and dream of owning one some day. Found one recently for sale good running condition. Needed some tlc and was priced to go but unfortunately is was a long way to go just to pick up a car that may or may not keep running for very long. I would love any links or history or just interesting facts anybody might know about this particular make and model! Looking forward to meeting and chatting with you

There's lots of info out there on that particular wagon. You could also consider the '74's and '76's as they were mostly the same.

I would suggest that you not rule out a long-distance acquisition if the right wagon at the right price comes along. There are ways to get that done - inspection services, maybe even somebody here on the forum if the wagon is close. My wagon came from Wisconsin. It was inspected by someone here on the forum, and the price was reasonable enough that I could afford another $1,000 to get it shipped to Oregon.
    Good luck with your search.

Keep in mind if you are set on only this particular make, model, and year wagon you will have to expand your distances to travel.
In reality you may have to be happy and satisfied with other brands and years. The world is full of great station wagons of all kinds, basically all alike in the fact it's a long heavy box.
If you must have a Ford there are lots of great wagon models to chose from. But the Chrysler and GM products are also nice. Whatever you end up with get the best, lowest mileage, rust free wagon you can afford. A cheap high mileage wagon needing rust repair and mecanical work may start out being a good buy. But it isn't.
Remember the hunt is as much fun as the capture.

The one for sale was def a fixer upper. If it had been rust free and in better running condition I would have gone the distance for her. I also like the 74 and 76 but particularly fond of the 75 due to it being the year I was born. Just my ultimate dream car. Would definitely settle in a heart beat just to have a wagon though. All I do know for sure is it HAS to have wood paneling, min to no rust damage (superficial interior repairs are no prob) Prefer no a/c (crazy but true!)

Have been having a complete blast browsing through forums and getting to look at some amazing rides! Making me long for one of my own even more.

It's also great reading and seeing so many people who are as passionate about station wagons! All I get are blank stares and groans when I mention them to anyone I know. I finally don't feel so alone in my obsession with, what I believe to be, a great car.

I still love the 1972 Gran Torino the best. Maybe because I had one. Love that front end.

I would be more than happy with any year truthfully just to have one. I have not seen a station wagon on the road where I live in the 20+ yrs I have lived here. Haven't seen one in the larger cities either come to think of it. Outside of the smaller much newer models of course.

This may be a dumb question but just where is it you live? Not the home address. The IRS and garbage man already know that. Might help in helping locate a wagon nearer you.
I know it's not close to the Boonies in NW Florida so I'll rule out my neighbors mint 75 Gran Torino.

Not North Florida....although I have an aunt that winters there.....I'm WAY up northern tip of Alberta (canada) I would have to travel regardless. Even tried talking my hubby into flying one way to a car auction in Vegas and driving back. Would have to be one extremely great condition wagon for that long haul! Mind you it's only a 2-3 day drive. Have done it before. I'm sure there are better places to go as far as car auctions are concerned but I'm unaware of these sorts of things.

I would also like to suggest keeping your mind open for other models and years of wagon. I do feel you will have to travel to find a non rusty wagon based on where you live.

In your search, demand pics, good pics, floors, frame, yada, etc, yada, etc. If for any reason you get "cold feet" and wonder about a sellers honesty......forget it and keep looking:)

Myself, I don't have the wagon I really wanted, not even close but have come across others that I could not pass up. Goes with selling also, have wagons for sale with over 100 pics but little interest...... Location vs demand and I'm not winning because of location.

    But for some inspiration ........

Thanks. It's just been fun to have a dream and a passion for a car! I have never really been bothered before about driving or any particular sort of vehicle. My husband is a chevy man and we have been through so many new trucks and suvs that it makes no difference to me. I fail to get as excited over the same old styles again and again. I don't know how or why in the past little while my interest and now my obsession over station wagons has grown to the point I won't be happy until I own one. Even if my husband does say I won't be allowed to park it in front of our house! Lol It didn't take me long to narrow down the certain look and styles I preferred, Well it's been great day today finding this forum and have it bookmarked as I am sure I will be back again and again! It's nice not completely crazy for loving these cars and am not alone in my admiration for them. Also nice to not hear a Harry and the Henderson's joke at the mention of the word station wagon!! Lol

Keep in mind that you can use adhunter for a single search of all the Craigslist ads in the U.S. http://www.adhuntr.com/

And you can use Jaxed/Mash to search all the ads across the U.S. on Kijiji, Hemings, Auto Trader and E-bay. http://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cgi?itm=ford%20torino&fil=squire&pg=&loc=&q=ford%20torino%20squire

It doesn't hurt to check the CarsOnLine website from time to time as well as other car listing sites. http://www.carsonline-ads.com/colsi...ite&cmd=showMenuList&menuListKey=stationwagon
