Somebody else with a torsion bar wagon just posted that question, just search with 'airbag' on this site. Links and tips abound.
Well if it's for the fullsize (Full figured..) mopar wagons...ie: C-bodies..there is no aftermarket set-up available. You would have to engineer all your own brackets, mounts etc to utilize pieces available for hot rods or what have you.
Is mine considered a C-body? It's definatly full (large economy) sized. I've been playing over at te Forward Look BB but have not heard a body designation as of yet. Bags are way down the road, I'm just investigating things....
A 58 Plymouth? suburban....is not a C-body it, so far as I know, does not have a body designation. Other than a sexy fined mopar...but it does have the same basic torsion bar set-up that was used for the next 15 years, so you may be able to find something that can be adapted. The C-bodies first got their designation in 1965 and then the C-body ran until I belive 1978-ish?? Aslo your car is a full frame right?? If so that would make it a lot easier to go airbags...it's the uni-body mopar cars that have a harder time with this swap.
Air bags....cool set-up on an old school wagon, would be goofy on mine, hell mine ain't even got them ones in the dash them there fancy new cars got.
...hmmm...this is always an amusing topic I...myself prefer Hydraulics..but where i live..they are illegal! but!!..i still have 2 hydro cars(cuz i'm a 50 year old rebel) ..and am on the verge of putting 'air' into 2 other of my other cars! ive been selling the 'air' stuff for a few years...its legal...and...its relatively painless..(if you know what your doing) Stovebolt on here has 'air' in his 59 Chebby wagon....and hes had Hydros in another...so...you'll get a 'unbiased' response from him
That's treading on thin ice tbird, Is that you're guardian angel? If my wife heard me say that I would really need mine. But honey please, I meant when you were driving and I was riding. Air bags are cool, not my thing but to each their own. As long as the frame isn't hacked up fine with me. I think you're a real rebel these days if you have a stock original car, especially a wagon with hubcaps and whitewalls. This Olds wagon is too cool, looks like a Hot Wheels car. View attachment 1195
