My son is dying to go and can only miss 4 days of school. That's the main reason the schedule is so tight. If we have an issue and have to take an extra day, it won't be the end of the world.

I'm going to get a spare serp belt, hoses, and oil/trans fluid/coolant and such and have them on the back of the Blazer. Ben swears it runs and drives fine. Hope it does!

Less than a week to go. Wow. We’re leaving EARLY on Thursday morning, like 4am…we’ll pretend we’re going hunting…ahaha! Will try to make it to at least Knoxville on Thursday, if not all the way to southern Virginia.

So we’re planning to be in Harrisburg on Friday night and will be going to Spring Carlisle most of the day on Saturday. Going to be my Dad, Eddie, and my friends Scott, Erik, and Mike at the show. Tim from the Longroof forum, would like to see you if you can make it Saturday, as well as anyone else in the area from this forum. Should be fun, a lot of car nuts drooling on car toys!

The plan is to drive on to New Jersey Sat evening after the show to crash with my friend Ben, and then get up early Sunday and load up the Camaro and pick up the Blazer, and then get back on the road Sunday afternoon.

We’re hoping to make it back to at least northern Virginia on Sunday night, which we can do if we get back on the road by 2pm, if not earlier. Then drive across Tennessee on Monday to my aunt’s house in Arkansas, and then get back to Texas on Tuesday. I took off Wednesday as a recovery day..or a possible safety day if we have issues on the road. Eddie can’t miss any more days of school than that.

    Going to be an ADVENTURE!

    -Mike

Yep it'll be a good story. Driving my 12-year-old 120K mile Denali 2400 miles, half of it towing a '82 Camaro that's been sitting since 1994. Oh and also 1200 miles in a '89 K5 Blazer that has been in NJ it's entire life and barely used the past three years.

I'm both excited and scared. Putting a lot of faith in old GM trucks to get us there and home. Fingers crossed!

Misty gave me the CD "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" for the trip. I still have the album my Dad gave me as a kid, but had not listened to it for years. Neat to have it on CD. Good driving music.

I know I should leap into modern times and get an MP3 player, but I still have CD's.

I actually spent last night digging out cassette tapes. The '89 K5 Blazer still only has a cassette, and Ben says it works fine. Get to re-live my high school/college years again. Ha!

    Road trip!

I often listen to cassettes I taped of Solid Gold Saturday Night back in the late 80's and early 90's with Dick Barkley. Great music to work in the shop with.

Hello all. Back in Texas, alive and well. 3642 miles from my driveway and back. 1/2 quart of oil in the Denali, and one rusted tranny cooler line on the Blazer. That's it. No other issues at all. Amazing!

We got home at 2am yesterday morning. I slept until 1:30pm yesterday, and spent the afternoon unpacking and unloading, and then crashed for work today.

Amazingly my Mom surprised me with a birthday gift of two tickets to the Jimmy Buffett/Jackson Browne concert at the F1 track....tonight! Ha! I'm taking my Dad with me and heading out at 5pm...wearing my flowered parrothead shirt today.

Tomorrow we're heading to Dallas right after work for a wedding on Saturday and a birthday party on Sunday. No rest for the wicked.

SOMETIME SOON I will be writing up a novel and posting a TON of pics for you all. I've got pics on my phone and the two cameras we brought on the trip. Again will sort through it all shortly.

Great trip, neat new vehicles in my driveway.

It sure is good to be home. I have 300 e-mails to dig through. Back to work!

Jimmy Buffett concert was delayed until tomorrow due to the cold weather! Yeah! Makes me really happy, did not want to go listend to Margaritaville in a heavy jacket, and now I can finish getting caught up at work tonight. Awesome!

Can you believe it's only 50-degrees here today, and gray and windy? It was 84 yesterday! Freak 1-day cold front...set records all over the state...coldest May 1st ever in Austin.

Back to sunny 70's tomorrow and 80's this weekend...thank goodness!

If I get a chance to work on the latest "trip novel" tonight, I will.

    -Mike
