Geez, what a bunch of morons!! I posted one of my trucks for sale yesterday. Ads been up for less than 24 hours and I've already got 2 emails this morning asking if it's still for sale. Another email was from "Jennifer" wanting to know more details and could I send more pictures. I told them all if they still see the ad, it's still for sale. If you want more details, use your telephone.

Yesterday afternoon, a guy called and said, I want it. It's exactly what I'm looking for. Where can we meet. We made plans to do so. I even agreed to follow him to his house 40 miles away if he would bring me back. No problem. So I clear my schedule today in anticipation. He calls and says he found an older one that's already fixed up. SORRY!!

I can tell already that this is going to be a PITA. I think "Jennifer" just wanted my email address to start spamming me with porn.

Tell Jennifer to send some pictures of her and you will send some of your truck.
I wanted to sell some of my cars and parts but keep hearing all the sad tales so hesitate. Altho a buddy buys and sells all the time on those sites.

Like any on these on line buy/sell sites there are a few people who give you grief. And it's not just from the buyers :disagree: I have had several sellers not respond to my emails when I'm looking for more info.

Hang in there I'm sure the right buyer will come along.

Nice looking truck for a good price

I have sold no less than a hundred items on craigslist. It took a few ads to learn not to respond to ANY email or text message. I put a statement in all my ads that I will not responds to any emails or text. I include my number and as much information about what I am selling as I know; good, bad, and otherwise. I do not negotiate over the phone and will generally state that in the ad. I will make some allowances on viewing location but not to the point where it is an expense or inconvenience that I cannot accept as a waste of time.

So far I have had real good luck with craigslist.

Real buyers have a phone and cash and know how to use it. I am not one to create an ad that generates a lot of calls, but rather write the ad so that when I do get a call it is someone familiar with the product and knows that I am too. In other words the with the perfect ad, I will get one call and it is sold!

I've had nothing but good experience buying off Craig's List and Kijiji. That is how I find most of my cars. I read the ads, write down my questions, and call. When I leave a message, I make it clear that I am very interested in what is for sale, and that I have questions so I don't waste their time by coming to view something that is not what I'm looking for. So far, every time I have had a call back, had the answers I wanted, and looked. 4 of the 5 cars I went to view, I bought when I got there, as I was given good information about the car, and it was exactly what I was expecting for the price.

Yeah, it's a learning experience, old. You have to wade through the scum to get to the top buyers. OTOH, like fannie says, you will usually find a buyer in the end.:yup:

Ive sold on Craigslist for years. Just remember, your selling the item and running the show. Don't let potential buyers run your show. My # 1 rule is I do not stay home and wait on people. Most don't show up. I tell them what time to be there.

I have also been selling on c-list for many years now and have had plenty of people not show or argue over prices through text. I have sold tons and bought tons of stuff but one of my rules is I only leave a phone number and say to call or text. I NEVER use an email as I get NOWHERE with them. Every add I have sent an email has NEVER gotten back to me. Ok I take that back ONE did and it took a month to finally meet up for a bass guitar. The only major drawback I have had is that my number is somewhere on Backpage in different states saying I want to hook up! So I sometimes get out of state calls and texts that are some guy wanting to have a hookup! That is the only thing I cant stand otherwise I have made a lot of ends meet through c-list and it is helping a ton right now with me on disability and the other half in school and only getting child support.
    Good luck in selling.

Well, I sold the truck a week after I posted it and it was fairly painless.

Being an old entrepeneur, I began to wonder what Craigslist's business model is. They don't charge listing fees or have advertising or click-thrus on their website. They obviously have a huge network and lots of employees. How do they make their money?

My guess would be advertising, but that's a dang good question.

I'm more than a little leery about putting my phone number or address on a website that attract the kind of people who I don't want to have my phone number or address. Like Craigslist.
That being said, my first ad for a canoe sold the first day.
Lately I've had four ads running for over a month, the only replies have been from scammers.

I posted two of the items on EBay free (Kiiji) this morning, we'll see how THAT goes. :162:
All ads have at least three good photos, and my approximate location, BTW.
