Had you high school rejects gone to chess club and some of those other very interesting clubs you may have ended up being Kinged or Queened by someone who would have used you for a pawn and you'd never met the Kings and Queens you now have.:disagree:

Well, there is that to consider but I'll tell you, a couple of those someotherbrand units that later in life appeared, gosh, I'd of been reasonably happy. In case the dw reads this - NOT nearly as happy as I am and have been though.:whew:

Fannie - when I talk to folks about my age who went to school on the Canuck Prairies they have very similar stories. The one constant is that we seemed to have discovered sources for cheap beer about the age of 14 and that fueled a lot of detention sessions. One of the nuns sent a letter to my parents telling them what a trouble maker I was and that I'd better shape up. Well, guess what, I am a shape today. A much bigger and rounder shape, but I'm still a shape :162:

I found myself going through this old thread, I like to look at old threads sometimes, and I stumbled across a picture of a device. At the top was one switch and on the bottom half was a ton of switches. Now I am one of those guys that likes to play with switches and I have to touch everything I see. I go to the store and see something I like I pick it up and feel it, look at it from every angle, and flip every switch, push every button, and twist every knob... So when I gazed upon this device I was looking at all the switches and knobs on the bottom half of this machine and wishing I could play with them... then I noticed what was written on this device in the picture...

Xavier, start reading before you start touching.
Believe me, we need to just play with our own switch and be good. :rofl2:
Even women have no idea what all those lower switches do.:slap: Flip the wrong switch and you may blow the main circuit!
And as much as I've looked and played with those switches, I've never found the OFF button.

Sometimes I just sit back and let those voices in my head argue among themselves. Cheaper than going to a movie or renting a DVD.
It's amazing what I've learned just by listening to ME !:biglaugh:

    One of these days.....

I'm going to built something like this for the garage:

Back in the late 60's/ early 70's, I used to go the college library and go through all their old Popular Mechanics and Popular Science magazines from the 50's. Really cool stuff in there. I remember seeing a small article on some guy that outfitted his car with all sorts of airplane gauges and switches. Don't remember the car they were on, whether it was a production model or maybe home-made. I'll see if I can dig up a pic.......

I had a similar setup to that in my locker in high school. I put in a 12VDC amplifier and a 7 band equalizer with a spectrum display (blinking lights are always cool). There was a 10" bass cabinet in the bottom and a pair of mid-range speakers in corner cases in the top. When I got to school I would unplug my headphones from my Walkman and plug it into my locker. I kept a 12V gel cell battery in the bottom to power it all and carried it home for recharging on weekends.
    ...kids are stupid eh?

Does finger-jointed lumber really suck, or don't you give a damn?
(Currently re-trimming a bath and master bedroom)

I put in a set of French doors 2 years ago and they are already starting to rot on the finger jointed trim.

Ordiarily, finger joints are stronger than the plain wood.
