HUD has a program where they have available apartments for low income people, but have a job, for 30% of monthly income. Get hold of HUD or just Google HUD 30% housing in your area.
It's a waiting list. A long waiting list. But I will see what I can find out. Maybe there is something new.
Nope. The last we knew it was a 3 to 6 month waiting list with requirements ee didn,t meet. We got one place we are waiting to hear back from on monday and another to look at. As for getting a car if neither place works Zoe doesn,t want to do that. We will see. Not giving up hope. So freakin ready for this crap to be over with and to get on with our lives.
A car of any kind is better than on the streets. A decent van best. Still this presents more problems. Like where to park it. Fuel, license, insurance, and upkeep. I'm sure around where Zoe works or anyplace else there are restrictions and safety involved. State Parks and other campgrounds would be as expensive as cheap housing after a short time. Parking lots of any kind are patrolled and have video cameras so nothing long term would work. Even in any direction farther out of town I have no ideas where to go. We've met many couples living in tents in campgrounds during summers and working days. Not a great thing in the long term. I'm sure the cheapest campground fees are well over $10-$15 a night. But there are possibilities of working it off and maybe even permanent work in maintenance, etc. Just over and along the Wisconsin state line, and all along the Illinois line are many public and State campgrounds worth checking out. Of course because of Zoe's job, you must stay fairly close.
Here is what Zoe makes... She looked it up so that I could have pics to post of what she makes. We haven't found a video if there is one. But she loves her job and they have shown that they appreciate her and the work she does. Here are the parts that she makes. Part # 374 She runs a machine called an Elevator. It grinds down the u joint so that it can have the caps put on the end. She has done that too, but mostly just does the elevator. She has worked on other sized u joints. The smallest they make there are like an inch and the biggest you have to hold with two hands. IIRC, the most Zoe has made in one shift was 2300+ u joints! She was told on her fourth day there that she had already surpassed a guy that had been several months. I'm so proud of her! Though she isn't sure, I think, from what she has told me about what she has been told, that she might be getting hired on permanently soon. She is going through a review tonight, I believe, and the boss has been hanging around overnight the last couple of nights.
Best of luck, Zoe! I'm sure you have worked your hardest to make a success of this job. Here's praying that dedication is rewarded! You two deserve all the good luck you can get! HUGS
