I was browsing stuff on amazon and i came across something called "B&M 70380 ShiftPlus Electronic Shift Improver" It supposed to work with the 4L60E transmission on my Buick Claims; Electronically recalibrates your transmission's hydraulic system for better performance Choose stock or performance mode with the flip of a switch Improves shift firmness for added driving pleasure, and the lower heat can extend the life of your transmission Installs in minutes with hand tools -- no need to remove the transmission pan or valve body Backed by the manufacturer with a 1 year limited warranty Had a lot of great customer reviews. Does anybody know anything about these. Is it worth trying? It's only $40 Can it do any harm? I'm not completely happy with the way the roadmaster shifts sometimes.
I know a couple people have used these, and LOVED them. The transmissions last longer, too, since the shifts tend to be faster, hence less clutch wear, and much less heat. Add a good transmission cooler, and the transmission about triples the life! The only thing is the transmission tends not to be 'buttery smooth'. You feel the shifts, but not significantly. All it means is that shifts are more like a THM400 when it was new, as opposed to the 'was that a shift' of the new ones.
Anything that makes the tranny shift harder is a good thing. I always have shift kits installed in my trannys. My '86 Chevy shortbed has a TH350 with a B&M kit. It will bark the rear tires when it hits second gear......love it!
It just contains a 5.6 ohm resistor. It increases line pressure by lying to the computer. I bought one used for $20, and put it in my '96 9C1. It was worth doing, but I don't think I would pay $40 for it when you could make your own. But, if you are going to do that, why not just tune your PCM?
