My Mom found this pic and posted it on her Facebook page. Just wish Dad's '63 Nova SS was in the pic. I thought it was too cool not to share. This was taken in 1970 in Jonesboro Arkansas, my parents hometown.

This was one of my parents favorite hang-outs, and they always got the same thing...a cherry-pineapple Teem with lemon. Yuck! :slap:

Thanks for sharing!(y) I too hung out at our local taste-freeze.

IMHO they had the best soft serve ice cream on the planet.
It was also a great place to be on weekend nights in summer.:2_thumbs_up_-_anima

Looks like by 1970 the first Mustangs were becoming '2nd cars' and showing up in good numbers on the used car lots. They were still quite a few years from being 'classics', and were fairly affordable. I bought my first car in the summer of '69, and from what I remember, the early Mustangs at that time were still a bit out of my price range (which was under $1,000). I ended up with a '63 Olds F-85 Cutlass.

I like the tow-hitch on that one Mustang. Wonder what they towed with it?

    Groovy.:D

Those Rustangs didn't last until 1970 around these here parts, just be a car sized heap of iron oxide with an interior and tires.:D

I can't see towing much, I still have a very similar hitch for 67/68 Mustang and Cougar. It's main mounting is just to the bumper itself. Towing a small trailer and a dirt bike would be about the max IMO, or very small boat.

Well, boys and girls, I had the first Mustang fastback in our town. A black 1965. Since we always camped I bought a trailer made out of an old pick up box and added a plywood "house" that sort of looked like an outhouse on wheels. The rear cover raised up to become the awning and we had a mattress at the top of the bed level. Storage was below. I also had one of those exact hitches and I towed all over the Midwest. Many trips to Indiana Dunes and Warren Dunes Michigan and all points slightly north from Illinois.
Sway bars, equalizer hitches, air shocks? What were those?

Oh yea. Hung out at our local Tastee Freeze and DQ too.

Notice the kid sitting on the roof of the 68 Polara? Don't try that with any of the new cars. Tin foil dents too easily! Great picture, though. Not sure we had Tastee-Freeze up here in Ontario. I don't remember them, anyway.

Sitting or putting stuff on a vehicle really irks me. I can't stand seeing a TV show, commercial or ad with someone sitting on a car. I'll yell at the TV, "Get off the f%&*#*# car!" Maybe it was the way I was raised. My dad instilled in us that you don't sit or stand on a vehicle and you don't put your feet on the dash!

Krash, in a car with airbags, like the HHR, ask your wife if she likes her occipital lobes. That air bag goes off for any reason, such as a defective sensor, and her knees are through her eyes. If she is lucky, they may be able to save her sight. Simple answer, if I'm behind the wheel, and someone does that, they are in the back seat, and I don't budge off the side of the road until they are belted in, and I don't give a tinker's damn who they are. Better that than the hospital visits if they get injured, or worse, a lifetime of cemetery visits because I didn't open a mouth.

Yeah, I keep telling her that.....
With a total knee replacement coming up soon, I think her days of putting her feet on the dash are over.......
