Hi fellow station wagon lovers. I have a 1970 Buick estate wagon restored with a third seat .My grand daughter and I own it. I need some help. The headlights keeping going on and off. Also I am looking for a passenger mirror with Buick 3 shields on it. Is there anybody with 1970 Buick parts in my area (Roseville, Ca). Thanks, Gary and Haylee

Welcome to the forum Gary and Haylee! Possibly a switch over heating or shorting out on your headlights? Thanks for joining us! :Welcome:

    Welcome aboard, Gery & Haylee!

Flickering headlights are usually either a poor ground connection between the core support (where the headlights are mounted), the fenders and the body OR a failing voltage regulator OR the headlight switch itself.

First, make sure all your ground straps are in place and the connections are clean and tight.

Check your alternator output; it should be steady at idle and should be about 14.3 volts. It should NOT go over 15V or drop below about 13V as engine RPMs vary.

If that's all good, it is probably the switch.

This is fresh in my memory; I just went through this same problem on my 68 GTO recently....

Welcome to the nuthouse we call home. I think you'll have a great time around here. Headlamps that flicker are often a ground problem. Headlamps that turn on and off are usually a switch problem. Headlamps that go bright and dim are often a voltage regulator problem. I've had all 3 over the time I've been driving.

For parts, check the cars for sale section on here. One of the members is parting out a 70 Estate wagon because the frame is shot. There is a good chance you may find what ever you need from him. Good luck. Any more questions, feel free to ask. We're always glad to help you spend your money!
