Just wandering around the 'net and ran across this site. I'm in the process of reworking a 1958 Plymouth Suburban wagon. I just got this beauty in the last of August and on the drive home from Omaha blew a head gasket on the 230 Cu. In. Flathead 6. As I was pulling it off the trailer that came to rescue me and dropped a valve seat.

You can see the exhaust valve has no seat.

I pulled the engine and found a cracked head.

    here is the engineless body.

and a pictue of the redone engine with a header/split manifold I found.

I just picked up a pair of carbs to use with it and I'm rigging the linkages now. I hope to have things ready to put back together before spring. I've got a fairly straight body to start with and after i get her running well, I'll redo the interior. You don't see many of these anymore and I'm excited about my project.

    Thanx for the welcome

Rev, after I get the motor done and in, I'll drive her as much as possible as I redo the interior. New door panels, new headliner ect..... I'm moving the shift from the column to the floor and I've been toying with the idea of running lake pipes.... What'cha think?

    Floor shift

Curently has a 3 on the tree with a 30% Borg Warner Over Drive. At 70 I should be running about 2000 RPM. I've got the shifter.

Thanx for the Lake pipe site.

I'm gonna keep the red wheels but am leaning to full Moon wheel discs for a wheel treatment. :29:

I'm doing a 58 Chevy 4-door Delray, in a similar setup. However, I'm puttin a 283 with a TH400 in it, but I'm setting it up to look like a 4on the floor. Doing the shifter up to the ceiling almost. I am going to paint her flat black with a white top, red rims, with dog-dishes.

Holy smoke Xea. I didn't realize it was an inline flathead six! Great car. Not enough folks keep the sixes in my opinion.

Good on ya and I do like the black paint and red wheels look.
