So as you know I am new and just got 2 68 Country Sedans. I was originally going to part out the one due to the title having a child support lien on it. However I called the DMV and it wont matter and can be titled with no issues. So I want to make it a driver and sell it as a complete car but the issue is that I have a gas tank with a leaking seam. That I can have fixed however I have no sending unit and lock ring! So since nobody makes any gas tanks or sending units for these is there any sending unit I can use out of another vehicle? Like a Bronco or a something that has a close depth?

    Thanks,
    Jesse

Jesse, check with Fat Tedy, seems like he just went through something just like this with his LTD, or ask Krash.

So I did some research and found about 5 of the same sending unit on Ebay all in the $150-250 price range. I am not sure I am gonna be able to spend the $$$ on the sending unit and also another $100+ to get the tank fixed just to sell the car for less than I have in it currently. I don't want to scrap it but may not have a choice as I was expecting to spend closer to $150 and be done. I really bought the car for parts but the more I look at it my car is in such good condition I don't know what I was thinking. The most I need is a rear bumper! I may swap those and that's all. I am mixed on what to do and am limited due to funds all being tied up in the parts car. :(

Price wise your inthe correct ball park from my findings......pending it really is the correct part(make sure!).... found alot of BS sellers in my hunt;)...After shipping cost and getting gaffed again by Comunist Canada HST tax I payed apx $200 for my sending unit. I guess it all comes down to are ya keeping it, or flipping it, and is the cost validated when it comes to your decition?:)

It is actually very clean as far as the floors and frame. The only issue with the frame is on each side just under the front doors as shown in the pic below. However the body will need both quarters for rust, and the hood, front fenders, gate, front drivers and pass doors all need dent work. The two rear doors are great. The front seat needs to be recovered as does the rear seat bottom. The headliner is ripped in a few spots, and its missing the rear gate panel. The front drivers door needs the inside door handle and wing window handle. The rear window motor works but is not on the track and was held up by wood. There is a switch setup in the gate that just hangs there and does work the motor.

I will keep that in mind if I end up selling the motor and trans the X-member is yours!

I was thinking about a universal one but I think I am going to stick to parting it out unless one of the guys on my Torino forum has a tank and sender from a Torino wagon. (y)
