OK so I am starting to look for a car. I am starting to get a bit ticked off at doing searches. Cumbersome? More than a little bit. I see you guys seem to find more than a little bit. I am trying to find only like big Ford Country Squire,LTD, or Mercury Grand Marquis, in the northern Alabama and middle Tennessee that just has a good fairly rust free body without a lot of dents. Drive train and interior can be missing for all I care and for less than 1100.00 SO.. the question is .. how can I quickly search for cars in this area without having to spend all cussed day doing it?
In that category, your best bet is a Craig's List search engine. Here's the one I use. You can 'sort' selections on the left side.. http://www.adhuntr.com/ There are others out there........
I suspect the $1100 is going to make your search difficult when looking for a specific car in a specific area. Maybe like saying...? I am looking for a girlfriend. She must be pretty, smart, about xx years old AND live on my road. When searching by type AND condition AND location AND price the list gets short or non-existent real quick. The vehicle you described will most likely not be found on an internet search but in a salvage yard not advertised at all.
Try posting a wanted ad in the cars for sale/wanted section on your local Craigslist or on all the Craigslists in the area you're looking at. I've found that cars find you more often than you find cars so you have to let everybody possible know that you're looking. "If the mountain won't come to Mohammed, Mohammed will go to the mountain."
Yeah but what if he posts a wanted ad for a woman, with somewhat okay looks, average intelligents, under 40, lives in a 3 mile radius of his house, and must like station wagons. Do you think he will have an easier score then?
If you are searching for parts: www.searchtempest.com If you are searching for cars: www.autotempest.com Don't specify a cost, you will find better searches that way. When using Adhuntr.com, be sure to try different variations on the same search. For example, if I search for my car, "1971 pontiac station wagon" and "1971 station wagon pontiac" actually turn up different results. I always do variations and also try things like "71 pontiac wagon" and so on. Brandon
You should never have asked that question fannie! Actually for $1100 he stands a better chance finding a station wagon body.
Oh I already got a woman with a GREAT body! Wouldn't trade her for nothing in the world! Nope! ... See, I dont need the ENTIRE car.. just a decent body to start with. I will be getting rid of a LOT of the interior and doing a lot of cutting, welding, and reinforcing. There will be an internal cage, external cage work, a glacis, all sorts of stuff.. So no.. I just need a good solid body with very few dents.
Money is tight. My wagon was offered for 1500 I swung it for 800. If you bid on 2000 dollar cars you will find someone to cave for a 1000.
I know your looking for a wagon, but sticking a front axle, 4x4 transmission and transfer case in this would be much easier than a body swap in my opinion. http://gadsden.craigslist.org/cto/3575925755.html
