Have a yard full of classic drivers but no wagons. I need one to round out my collection and found a nice fixer-upper '59 Country Sedan.

Original paint, thin on top good elsewhere.
Only minor floorboard rust, none on body except for slight lower fender well and passenger side rocker panel.
Passenger side fender has a dent that is not major but fender should be removed to properly fix the dent.
Has sat for about 15 years, 10 years since it was last started. 83k mi, Transmission needs rebuild. 352 and says it runs great.
    Interior original but faded.
Front windshield cracked. Missing radiator. Rest all there.
Colorado car it's full life, so it has never seen winter salt.

    More photos to come.

Is $1,500 a fair price for this?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help...:tiphat:

:Welcome:to the forum. You should fit in here with your assortment of motor vehicles. The wagon looks like a very good buy, unless there are hidden rust issues. Rust are the only major problems with any car. Nice body style and basically all there. Would probably need a new radiator anyway.

:Welcome: Mountain Pilot, Yes that is a great buy. Even if it needs rockers as most will out here.

I my opinon, this one has perfect body colors. You really need this wagon, she is a beauty.

Good luck if you get it. and by all means send more pic's, really curious to see what it has for options.

    I'll take it if you don't. :rofl2::rofl2:

    Thanks for the Welcome..

I have had Station Wagons ( or Vans ) all my life and just needed another real wagon.
Have had '58 Chevy Wagon, '68 Ford Wagon, 72 Torino Wagon '74 Chevy Suburban ( don't know if this qualifies?), Two '80 era Plymouth Vans, 2000 Olds Van. Just sold the Suburban a year ago.
Now to get another. Was looking for a Corvair Wagon ( I have 6 Corvairs ) but as age creeps up on me, a full size wagon makes more sense. I started driving in '59 so this is perfect.
    In the Yard is:
    Three Driver early model Corvairs
    '78 Continental MK-V - Great Shape
'85 Cad Eldorado - my Fathers last car.
'90 Jaguar XJ40 - My cross country driver
Plus a Olds Van and Ford PU.
and at the airport a '64 Piper Cherokee and a '42 Beech 18

Why do I need another car :slap:

    New radiator $400
    Rebuilt wiper motor $100
Hopefully you don't need a tranny but probably will.
Good buy in my opinion and the windshield glass will be very expensive so you might just drive it as is for now.
I like the patina on the paint, so unless you plan to completely restore it... it looks good just as it is.
There will be a lot of issues with the electrical system. Corrosion on contacts and in the light sockets. So get yourself a dremel with a wire wheel brush and just go through all the bits till everything works.

I have heard that '59 owners are not able to get door and tailgate seals. So hopefully they are still serviceable. If not... you might want to pass if you live in an area where it rains a lot.
'57 and '58 wagons are a little simpler and there are a lot more repop parts available including seals.

Good luck with anything you decide and :Welcome:

Rain??? What is rain??? Where I live in Colorado we get less rain than Tucson Arizona... Very Dry! Plus it will be under cover...

Awaiting the owner to get back to me with more information and photos. Then I will throw out his way an offer.

First order is to get it running great. New stock Brakes & Shocks all around. He is throwing in hopefully a complete with accessories good 40k mi 58 Edsel FE engine and tranny. Do not know if the trannys are compatible, with the Edsel being a push button electric unit. I always get all the mechanical work completed first, then onto the body which will eventually get repainted. Then interior. I work at keeping it 100% stock. Too many have already been Hot Rodded.

Spending the day researching the '59 Fords... Need to refresh my memory of them..

Good for you on keeping it original! Not many original of anything left. Of course when they are rusted out like mine was, making a custom is cheaper.
    Let the memory refreshing begin.:)

    Welcome to the SWF...

My first drive in a Corvair was as a kid when my older cousin and her husband bought a new '63 Monza Spyder convert similar to yours. Later on, I bought my own, a '66 Corsa (turbo) coupe. One of my 'wish I still had it' cars......
