I don't belive they had the aod in 79 i have a 302 w/C4 in my 79 cars been in the family since brand new. I have at one time YEARS ago seen one of these wagons that had 351/400 engine in it and a ford 9in could of been a C4 but probly an early tow package so i would guess C6 since it had the 9in and bigger block engine IT IS the ONLY one i ever saw with a 9in

i looked for the weather stripping a while back and it was plentyfull they made these from 78-79 (79 first model year) to 91 should still be a common purchased item i would think

wagonkiller, as you may or may not know, that back tailgate piece is moulded weatherstripping. i have the part number from ford and they have been nla from ford for many years now. best best is NOS from an antique ford parts dealer.. but that will be an exhausting search. im getting closer, i can feel it, but no cigar yet. thank god the normal doors can have common bulb weatherstripping per the service maual.

Yes, good luck on finding the weatherstripping. I don't absolutely need it yet but would jump at the chance at purchasing a replacement.

Hopefully the aftermarket manufacturers will realize that there is a demand for these... how much demand? I don't know. How many 79 to 91 full-size Ford wagons do you all figure might still be on the road? Seems like a lot of them were crushed after being used hard.

1984 Ford LTD Stationwagon - for sale

I have a 1984 Ford LTD wagon for sale. I am the 2nd owner of the vehicle. It is in excellent condition... it has only 65,000 original miles on it. My car has new tires, belts, hoses, external regulator, and battery with 700 cold cranking amps. It has never been undercoated, for I keep it in the garage during winter months.
I use it mainly for loading my kayak up on the top... I made a roof rack for it. It passes all inspections every year. I normally put 200 miles on it / year.
If interested, email me & I will send you pics.
